Item Description... Overview Zacharias invites readers to come follow him on this journey through his life and into the lives of others, and see how he has become more convinced with each year that goes by that Jesus Christ is the One who came to give us life to the fullest and to point us to the freedom and beauty of truth, for everyone, easterner or westerner, all over the world.
Publishers Description God in the ShadowsThe life journey of one of our generation's greatest defenders of the faith. In a contemporary world, most travel is at breakneck speed. But this memoir is a journey on foot---a walk---with plenty of time to stop, to wonder, to talk, to linger, and to reflect. For more than three decades, apologist Ravi Zacharias has shared bits and pieces of his personal life and experience. Now in Walking from East to Westhe invites readers to follow him on a journey through his life: to see and smell the neighborhood in India where he grew up, to feel a mother's love and the consternation of a harsh father . . . and the lure of a rebellious soul. In a crisis experience, Zacharias exchanged pantheism for monotheism, and meaninglessness for true fulfillment in Christ. He has traveled from the East to the West, and then back again to answer skeptics' penetrating questions about the meaning of life and the existence of a God who is there for his children. Dr. Zacharias believes that the greatest argument for the living God is a life lived in Christ, and in this book, he reveals his own. Also available as abridged audio CDs, read by the author. |

| Zacharias' book will either be life-changing or life-affirming for the reader lucky enough to stumble across this amazing account of a life that saw so much pain and joy. To go along on his journey, watching him go from his desperate youth and into his successful and meaningful adult life is incredible. As someone who has been immersed in a Christian lifestyle her entire life, I find it remarkable that someone can come from such beginnings and end up the man that Ravi Zacharias has become. It really makes me think about how much of the Western experience I take for granted. Ravi is not only passionate about his faith, but he provides an intellectual basis for it as well, something that is often missing in evangelism today. The blend of Eastern and Western cultures presented in this book are extremely significant and helpful. This has caused me to take a new approach to different cultures and unbelievers. He is a living example of walking in someone else's shoes. I could say countless things to praise his life's work, but it seems to me that Zacharias would want any glory to be given to God. After reading this, that is how I want the things I do to be remembered...for the glory of God. I cannot wait to read more from this talented evangelist! | | | | Fascinating...I couldn't put it down Jan 23, 2007 |
| Ravi Zacharias's story will inspire you and give you tremendous hope. It's a must-read for every Christian. Thank you, Mr. Zacharias! | | | | Ravi Zacharias stirring apologetic Jan 22, 2007 |
| Sitting down with this book feels like you are sitting across the table from Ravi Zacharias sharing tea. Every Christian's coversion is not mearly an intellectual ascent but a journey of the Spirit. Ravi's journey, which certainly traversed the wilderness of despair and hoplessness of Christ-less religion, unfolds into an amazing life. It is encouragement for any seeker that hope awaits them in the relentless pursuit of truth. | | | | Good Biography Jan 4, 2007 |

Ravi reveals his heart and life to those who choose to read this book. He weaves the story of his life and the worlds that it has encompassed. The LORD has brought him from one world to all the world thru his life and ministry. You will be thrilled at how the LORD has done these things in and thru him, one person, and yet affecting us all, everywhere. He shines brightly with the light of the LORD to all who will listen to him speak. Truly a great book telling the story of a great life here on this earth. C.
