another fine compact reference tool from nelsons that is easy to use. it's small enough to take any where and provides solid
information and definitions to the people, places, books, settings and teachings of the bible.
it even explains important themes, terms and doctines, such as conversion, imputation, election, predestination and justification etc.
while what i have seen so far for the definitions is good, i did not like the first sentence in the justification explanation.
they say it is "the process by which sinful human beings are made acceptable to a holy God." that smacks more of the roman catholic viewpoint.
justification is a one time act. sanctification is the ongoing process. but the further definition is fine.
the text size is very readable and there's lot's of pictures and illustrations as well as pronunciations(which i always need!)to the words.
this is condensed from the exhaustive new illustrated bible dictionary by nelson. it has trimmed back the longer articles and
extra details to get right to the essential information and basic facts on a multitude of important subjects. this way you can
find out what you need to know quickly and conveniently where ever you happen to be!
while the bigger dictionaries, commantaries and concordances have the most info, i find it's the smaller compact versions that i always go to first.
as they say on the back cover "a solid foundation" and "a must" for every bible owners personal reference library.
