I already liked Lis Wiehl, I knew of her from FNC. I wasn't sure this book would be so good, I didn't read her first one.
I really liked this book! It definitely kept me guessing and I was SHOCKED at the ending... definitely didn't see that coming! I can't wait for the next one to come out next year and I'm going to read the first one for sure. I think this is a must read for people who like the suspense genre.

| This is the second of Lis Wiehl's books that I have read, and this one is just as good, if not better than the first. I don't care whether it is Lis or April Henry doing the heavy lifting in the writing department, the result is a great story that kept me up until 0400 this morning reading. There is no message, deeper meaning or anything else about this book other than a dynamite read. Take it to the beach or take it on a trip. | The book is directly aimed at Women's Book Clubs that prefer to discuss "women's issues". Seems as if every issue the authors could think of were brought into play and the plot line bent to accomodate it. The second group they, after the book was written, decided to appeal themselves to was Christian Book Clubs. Every place the authors/editors could find even the most remote opportunity, they wedged open the story line after the fact and stuffed in a prayers or religious thoughts. The acutal murder plot was woefully thin, predictable and almost lost in the tangential issues. Hand of Fate is the story of three friends who work together to solve crimes. In this case, they're determining whether the death of a controversial talk show host is murder or a terrorist attack.
When I received this book from Thomas Nelson in exchange for an honest review, I was excited. I thought for sure I'd love it. A great cover, an intriguing premise, and a killer first chapter made me smile. Unfortunately, the book started off great for me but then became harder and harder to read.
It's difficult to put my finger on why, and after seeing all the five star reviews, I realize how subjective my review is.
I think my problem might be that the first half of the book is super slow and the characters are introduced but I never connected to them. Then the second half of the story goes so fast and quick but I'm still not connected to the characters so it didn't matter what happened. I also felt there was a lot of political preaching that seemed contrived.
