 | Awesome book, but beware, it's graphic. Sep 22, 2009 |
I probably don't have much more to say than the other reviewers, but I had to comment on this great read.
I love historical fiction and I feel as though this book was written for me. It is wonderful, start to finish. It has loads of suspense and action, great characters, and even court room drama. It's not too complicated. (I'm reading a book right now where in the first 20 or 25 pages the author is introducing too many characters at once and it's hard to keep up with.)
I would warn readers though, that this book gets graphic and violent. Just wanted to throw that in there for parents of children under 18. This book is definitely for mature readers. Even though this is a book from a Christian author, this is really a story about a Mafia family and, for the most part, Nancy Wentz doesn't tone down the character and actions of the people in this story. It is however free of profane language. She uses, key, but subtle phrases in place of the actual "choice" words that would be used. (and she did this very well.)
Great job Nancy. I highly recommend this book. Looking forward to the next! | | | | An exciting story! May 8, 2009 |
| This was a fun enjoyable book full of lots of plot twists. I liked how the author made her Christian beliefs clear without coming across as too preachy. The curse of the demon gave the story a creepy intense feel. The suspense kept me reading. There were just a couple things which bothered me. First, there were times when the main protagonist, Luke, came across as a little too innocent, though he did grow throughout the course of the book. Also, I didn't really like the epilogue. It seemed like it was tacked on after everything was already resolved for the sole purpose of setting the book up for a sequel. Aside from those things I found it a very exciting enjoyable read. Also, the copy I have is one nice paperback! I like the way it feels when I hold it. Kudos to the designer! | | | | Great book! Mar 8, 2009 |
| "Cursebreaker grabs the reader from the start and does not relent until the final page. The plot carries the action seamlessly. The characters spring to life in dynamic detail, and the imagery forges vivid pictures. All these parts blend together to create a fantastic thriller. I thoroughly enjoyed Cursebreaker from start to finish. The significance of the spiritual battle that surrounds us daily impressed me. I found I could relate to the fears and struggles of the characters. The action moves on at a quick pace and little space is wasted. I hope this entertaining book will have the opportunity to challenge many people's view of life." | | | | Perfectly timed with great attention to detail Feb 9, 2009 |
| Cursebreaker is at once devastatingly heart wrenching and spiritually uplifting. The author's ability to swing our emotions like a pendulum is captivating, and her storytelling is very precise. Her talent in creating a story that you truly feel, not just read, is astounding, betraying the fact this is her first novel. Ms. Wentz is a gifted writer with some of the best timing and descriptive ability I have encountered. As a fan of both Stephen King and Terry Blackstock, she plays very well to both sides. I look forward to her future efforts. | | | | Great book Jan 17, 2009 |
| I actually got this book from the sister of the author, who is one of my teachers in school. I read the first few pages, thinking it wouldn't interest me, but i couldn't put it down! This is a great story and I can't wait for the next one! | | | Write your own review about Cursebreaker
