Item Description... Overview When his estranged daughter's life is taken by a serial killer, who killed six other young women by breaking their bones and leaving them to die, intelligence officer Ryan Evans inadvertently becomes a prime suspect.
Publishers Description They call him BoneMan, a serial killer who's abducted six young women. He's the perfect father looking for the perfect daughter, and when his victims fail to meet his lofty expectations, he kills them by breaking their bones and leaving them to die. Intelligence officer Ryan Evans, on the other hand, has lost all hope of ever being the perfect father. His daughter and wife have written him out of their lives. Everything changes when BoneMan takes Ryan's estranged daughter, Bethany, as his seventh victim. Ryan goes after BoneMan on his own. But the FBI sees it differently. New evidence points to the suspicion that Ryan "is" BoneMan. Now the hunter is the hunted, and in the end, only one father will stand. |

Reviews - What do our customers think?
 | Whatever happened to the word "The"? What's next, "Way We Were"? Jan 22, 2010 |
| Normally I like to wait a bit before submitting a review of a book, but just finished it a few minutes ago and would like to pass my compliments along to the chef. That sir, was wicked intense. Five star wicked intense really. But we'll get back to the star in a bit. First, the praises. Great, great, great hero. I'd follow him to, well, I think you know where. And the stuff in Iraq was a complete surprise despite the premise. Now the not so great. These twist at the very end. Contrived and arbitrery and did I say contrived? Like his also good but flawed "Adam", these twists are so off the charts silly its like he doesn't have "faith" in the story we followed. And speaking of plot holes, the DA character was a walking gaffe in his own right. Let us start with a little thing called conflict of interest. I don't care how much hold he has , he ain't runnin Mayberry. He can't be banging the victims mother, get assaulted by the husband, then run essentially the entire law enforcement ring in all of Texas. Also, a little nuance can go a long way and EVERY LINE that came out of his mouth made me wanna break his bones. All and all, it was as compulsively readable thriller and thanks to an excellent narrative I read quicker than a tv dinner instructions. | | | | Disappointing Jan 9, 2010 |
Dekker's Circle Trilogy (Black, Red, White) and Lost Books series are some of my favs and I've been a big fan for a while. Boneman's Daughters, however, falls flat.
I found the story to be mundane, predictable, unrealistic and hard to establish a connection with the characters. Dekker's books are usually good for a great plot twist, but unfortunately one never came. Usually with his past books I can't help but read as fast as I can to find out what happens next. In this case, I was reading fast in hopes it would get better..and then finally that I could just get it over with.
Dekker is a great author, but this is definitely not his best work. If this is your first time reading him, be sure to check out the Circle Trilogy instead. It will not disappoint. | | | | psychologically intense Dec 30, 2009 |
"There is just something about a Ted Dekker book. Whether it's the intense psychological challenges with which the man writes, or the thrill ride of suspense one can expect, or the spiritual context suffused through the plots for greater substance to the overall theme, there is just something about a Ted Dekker book that elicits a response in a reader of the book's worth - simply from his name alone. Here, Dekker offers a father who fights to rescue his daughter from a serial killer as the main plot. Yet, being Ted Dekker, he takes that one basic premise a step further. He creates an estranged relationship between father and daughter, where the father only discovers his daughter's worth following psychological torture by a terrorist who blames America for the death of his own children. Did this torture turn Ryan Evans into the Boneman? The FBI believes so, but Dekker never lets you know until the last possible moment, and then it becomes a matter of saving the daughter, Bethany. Is she destined to become Boneman's Daughter or the daughter of Ryan Evans? In true Dekker fashion, both paths call out to the reader to accept them as the truth."

| I really enjoy Dekker and this book was no disappointment. Some of Dekkers books have a dry spot in the middle where you can walk away and not feel bad. This book however was tough to put down. Boneman is a true villan and Ryan's compassion makes him a true hero. It wasn't until the end that I caught the Christian metaphors and imagery but even now after being done with it I am still breaking it down. I highly recommend this book for a solid thriller that will keep you turning the pages. | | | | This is a great book!! Dec 12, 2009 |
(I am Joshua's wife. My name is Sarah, and this is my review of Dekker's Boneman's Daughters)
This is one of the most interesting books I have read in a long time. Yes, of course the story is dark because it is about a man who kidnaps young women in hopes that he will find the perfect daughter. When they do not meet his expectations, he breaks their bones without tearing flesh.
Then one day, he goes after the wrong man's daughter.
Some reviews have said that this book has no redeeming qualities, but I beg to differ. Dekker has always done a good job of writing about good and evil. This book is no exception, and I think that the story has God woven into the pages in a very big way.
Yes, this book does have some language in it that some may be offended by (i.e. piss, hell, skank, whore). But, it did not offend me. So many times, I think Christians box themselves in without remembering that we live in a fallen world with people around us every day who are not Christians and use language that we may not.
Moreover, my feelings about this is that none of the characters are labeled as Christian, which tells us that yes, they will use language that we may not approve of. I personally feel like just because a Christian author may use cussing in his/her novels, it is not to say that they are saying cussing is right. Think about this for a moment. Jesus called the Pharisees Sons of Snakes. We have a similar term in the English language. That means that either Jesus sinned, which we know he didn't, or maybe, just maybe it means that sin is not always what we think it is.
I really enjoyed this book and believe it had a great message. I cannot say what that is, because then I would give away the ending. But, if I could tell you one thing about it, it would be that love has no bounds.
Dekker did a wonderful job on Boneman's Daughters! | | | Write your own review about BoneMan's Daughters
