Written discretely, Ms. Betts still charms the reader with moments of passion and the terrors of primitive practices. She keeps the action as surprising as life itself, right down to the last scene. | "Light Bird's Song" is Ms. Betts' best work so far and continues the story started in "A River Too Deep", her first novel. We get into the characters' minds and hearts through her skillful writing. Very intriguing opening and insight into true character. Had to pay attention not to miss any of the "hints" as to what was really going on. A love story with God as the center, but written to intrigue, not preach. The writing pulled on my emotions and a few tears were shed along with lots of smiles.
