Product Description
Now with a new foreword by Ann Spangler.
Nathan J. Stone writes, “Indeed we cannot say all that the mysterious word God means to us until we know more about Him.”
God’s many names reveal not only different dimensions of His character but also point to their fulfillment in the Person and work of Jesus Christ. This insightful little book accurately and clearly works through the many names of God throughout the Old Testament. We can now see God in new lights and angles as we learn of His justice, His unbounded love, His preeminence, and His character---all through His names. This book has sold over 400,000 copies.

 | A treasure house of insights into the Old Testament Oct 30, 2009 |
| I have referred to Nathan Stone's Names of God countless times across the years to enrich my Bible study and my understanding of the ways in which God interacts with mankind. Learning the Hebrew names and their connotations will open up Old Testament Scriptures that may seem difficult otherwise. Stone even offers clues to the source of the Christian concept of the Trinity. This is a book to read slowly and ponder over and over again. | | | | Excellent Style and Depth Sep 28, 2009 |
| This book takes a fantastic subject - the names of God - and presents these designations in a clear, understandable, and edifying way. For any who are seeking a better understanding of God and how to approach Him, this book is a phenomenal resource. | | | | Good, but not great Apr 14, 2009 |
| I was really hoping this would be a great book, unfolding some of the deep mysteries about the Lord's revelation of who He is. (I was surprised at how tiny the book actually is.) It is a good read, but falls a little short of my expectations. | | | | Hard Read Mar 27, 2009 |
| I found this book is very difficult to read. Doesn't capture your attention at all. | | | | Excellent book, but needs updating. May 12, 2008 |
| Mr. Stone has a sincere respect for God and His personal/descriptive Names in the OT and NT. Since it was written in 1944, much new manuscript information has come to light. For example, the personal Name of God has been found to be Yahweh by most Christian scholars. Jehovah has been determined to be incorrect, being formed by adding the Vowel points of Adonai to the Tetragrammaton, YHWH. This was done to keep from offending the traditionalist Jews who thought it too sacred to pronounce, and even the newest Bible translations use LORD in place of the personal Name of God, YHWH (Yahweh). Since LORD is a title, and not a name, I believe that we should use our God's real personal Name Yahweh in our translations and in our prayers. | | | Write your own review about Names Of God (Moody Classics)
