Photography So Alive I Can Smell Sunday Dinner Cooking!  Jun 25, 2009
While thumbing through the pages of this book I kept thinking, "That's a great kitchen for a party. Where the guests can gather around, sipping wine and enjoying homemade appetizers by the host." Or, "That's a great stove!" The smooth writing style lends support to the crisp, clean photography of Steven Paul Whitsitt. Photography that doesn't diminish or do injustice to the grandeur of the beautiful, custom-crafted kitchens in this book.

I recommend this book to anybody who loves cooking, eating or seeing quality kitchens. Set it on your coffee table (or kitchen table) and I'll guarantee it will get picked up!

Love This Book  May 31, 2008
This is a beautiful book! It is chock full of wonderful photographs that do a nice job of showing the reader the many choices available when one renovates a kitchen. The book is well laid out, separated into the different sections of the kitchen. In all, this is a fine guide to what's possible in a contemporary kitchen. I wish this book had been available before I did my kitchen. I have recommended this book to many friends who are considering redoing their kitchens.

I love kitchens  Feb 27, 2008
First of all, I love kitchens, although, since my childhood when I grew up in the kitchen of a restaurant and tavern, have never really had a great one. I dream of how I will design my kitchen when I buy a place, what the center island will look like (heave butcher block at the very least), the huge gas stove with a grill, the industrial refrigerator. (The freezer will be a deep freeze in the pantry, natch.)

Looking through this book fed all my fantasies. And who wouldn't want a coffee table book about kitchens? The photographs are gorgeous (although I've never in my life seen any kitchen as pristine and clean as those photographed here. Ah, well, if I were to have my kitchen photographed, I'd hire a whole crew of people to scrub it to within an inch of it's life, I imagine.) With such wonderful photos, which are what coffee table books are all about, the text is just there for filler, no? it is interesting to me that the photographer's name isn't mentioned in the listing here on this site. According to the front of my copy, the photographer's name is Steven Paul Whitsitt. He's very good.

All in all, this is a very satisfying book.
