Tass Saada's Christian faith might be contrued as of the liberal kind. If one is a person who is well versed in the bible his interpretations of scripture concerning "peace" is a stretch when it comes to the literal meaning of God's word. There is the many chapters of the Bible that are ignored in his book, especially concerning the prophecies in the Tanach from Ezekiel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Joel and others. Tass Saada restricts his Bible interpretation to the story of Abraham, Ishmael and Isaac with really innacurate statements concerning scripture to fit his own political agenda.
It is also hard to swallow his admiration of Abbu Omar (Yasser Arafat) and barely mentions the corruption and the poor leadership which in the end caused the reversion to violence.
Jews have reached out in friendship from the very fist time they returned to their historic homeland. Violence has never been the way of the Jewish Yeshuv and lsrael, it was only Britain that the Jews declared war after WW2 and used pro active violence to secure independence. When you read this book it seems as it is a "two sided" problem. That Ishmael feels wronged by God and the Jews, and that the Jews need to accommodate in some way the injustice which was caused by Muslim hatred that hurt them. No doubt innocent Arabs suffered, as do all in war but to make this a two sided issue defies historical evidence if one chooses to study the REAL truth of what happened. Reading Tass Saada you might think that Israel is the aggressor as he describes the outbreak of the 6 day war in 1967.
It is a blessing that Tass has shed his hatred for the Jews in becoming a Christian and embracing at least part of the Christian teaching of love, but his teachings and message of peace and reconcilaition is fraudilant and not based on Bibleical truth or the real problem which is the lack of confession from Muslims for their rejection and hatred of Jews as well as their use of horrific terror attacks on innocents. The issue of Israel is not a rejection of each other or a rejection of God of Ishmael as Tass Saada tries to portray and juggle with some precarious teaching, but it is a rejection and hatred of Muslims against Jews. There is no moral equation, none. What perpetuates the conflict is both the lack of Muslim confession as well as a failure in the West to call the true agressor for what he is because of oil and politics, which is explained quite clearly in the Bible.
If Christians, Jews and Muslims wish to understand the issues of the Middle East and how peace will come in the end you just have to read the Bible, it is all there from start to finish. For those who find the Bible difficult to study get the book by the other former terrorist who truly confesses his sins in the witness of God and that is Walid Shoebat and his book "God's War on Terror." | I couldn't put this book down. It is well written and Tas Saada's life story is amazing. You really see the miracle of how God changes peoples life even if you think its impossible. | I think this may be the first book I read from cover to cover in one evening. I simply could not put it down. The stories of the author's childhood and early teens are remarkable but not as remarkable as the transformation he goes through as an adult. He does something that most people think is impossible. He goes from someone consumed with hate to someone who seeks peace and reconciliation. What an amazing journey. You will not regret picking this book up. His biggest transformation and most amazing was his conversion story, truly an miraculous story that is well worth reading.
