All this and more ...  Jul 19, 2006
Beautiful ... powerful ... painful ... With Love, Libby is all of these and more. It's a story of dreams, of friendship, of loss, and ultimately of restoration and fulfillment. In With Love, Libby, Henke explores the depth of friendship between women. She lays bare the power of dreams between mothers and daughters. A masterful word weaver, she threads the potent force of faith and God's grace throughout the story in a most natural way.

In an unpredictable and unique plot approach, Libby is writing a book titled After Anne, which Henke authored as the first novel in this 5-book series. At first, I was slightly confused whether the letters from readers about After Anne and the other books were real or fictional. But that twist added realism to the story. Henke's memorable characters live in the small town of Brewster, North Dakota, where everyone knows everybody--and their business.

With Love, Libby is the last of the Coming Home to Brewster series. It's the first one I've read of the series but not the last. I just ordered the other 4 books, and if they are anything like this one, all five will remain on my bookshelf to be read again and again.

This Book Changed My Life  Apr 18, 2006
I loved this series and this book in particular. I, too, am a struggling writer and I saw so much of me in Libby. She gave me strength to keep trying. Thank you, Libby and thank you Roxanne! Superb!

I love this book  Mar 25, 2006
This story was one I looked forward to from the moment I read the 4th book in the series. When it came I had to let it sit for a few days because I knew when it was over I'd have to say goodbye to all of my favorite characters. I took my time reading this book and cried SO many times. That's a sign of a great book when you actually FEEL what the characters are feeling. I love the way Roanne Henke filled in all the gaps and answered all of my questions about what would happen to each person I had met along the way. If you haven't read this book or this series, you are missing out!

Love the series!  Feb 9, 2006
We waited anxiously for the release of this book and now find ourselves saddened that we can't make another trip to Brewster! Roxy puts down in writing what our hearts feel but our voices never seem to say. Whenever someone comes in and asks for a good book, we always send her to the shelves for a Roxanne Henke book--if they are on the shelves and not checked out. This particular book speaks to so many of us in our search to find out who we are and what our purpose is in life. It also speaks to us about listening for that Voice and patience. I pray that everyone can have an Ida Bauer in their lives...what a wonderful character you made come alive! Thank you Roxy. We look forward to your next series!

Caution, this story may get you choked up.  Feb 4, 2006
When I picked up With Love, Libby, I was thrilled to discover that Libby was the same character as the main character in Becoming Olivia, which I loved. While a bit too long, in my opinion, this story still provided a rich read and poignant moments. I did find myself skimming over parts on occasion where simply too much stuff packed the chapter that seemed unrelated to the goal of each character. I don't like excessive description. At any rate, I cried over Angie's struggles and the tragedy that occurred in her life. I also felt bad that she condemned herself so much for her mistake. I've worked with many teen parents and never met one so down on herself. I found that sad. Also, her mother was hard for me to like because it broke my heart that she literally shunned Angie when she was in her time of greatest need. Sobbed over that one. I rarely cry when I read, so that was great! I love it when a book makes me feel something. I found Libby less likeable in this story, too. Both Libby and Vicky seemed so self-centered to me. I couldn't believe how much they wanted to control their children and circumstances. I would hate to be a mother like that, and thank God my kids are free to fail and make their own choices without me heaping guilt on their heads. However, that's just my personality. I know many women like Libby and Vicky, and in fact, I plan to give this novel to a friend who is struggling with the same issues that Libby and Vicky had. Her children are doing things with their lives that she is unhappy with. I see this book as a resource to minister to women in these situations. Maybe they'll read this story and say to themselves, "That's me. Oh, God, please forgive me and help me relinquish the need to control my child's future." So, in summary, I highly recommend this book. It's worth the read even if it is a bit too long. :)
