Overview
Recounts how one co-author suffered through plantation-style slavery until the 1960s and homelessness before the wife of the other co-author, an art dealer accustomed to privilege, intervened.

Publishers Description
Meet Denver, a man raised under plantation-style slavery in Louisiana "in the 1960s"; a man who escaped, hopping a train to wander, homeless, for eighteen years on the streets of Dallas, Texas. No longer a slave, Denver's life was still hopeless-until God moved. First came a godly woman who prayed, listened, and obeyed. And then came her husband, Ron, an international arts dealer at home in a world of Armani-suited millionaires. And then they all came together.

But slavery takes many forms. Deborah discovers that she has cancer. In the face of possible death, she charges her husband to rescue Denver. Who will be saved, and who will be lost? What is the future for these unlikely three? What is God doing?

"Same Kind of Different As Me" is the emotional tale of their story: a telling of pain and laughter, doubt and tears, dug out between the bondages of this earth and the free possibility of heaven. No reader or listener will ever forget it.

Touching Story That Can Change Lives  Mar 19, 2007
I really feel that every human being in America should read this book and see how God is working even when we can't see it. God had a plan for Denver, which could not be seen by world. This story truly touches your heart and changes your way of looking at the world. I bought two copies and I have to buy another because I can't wait to share this story with my family and friends. Both my mother and I agree, this is the best book we've read in years!!!! God Bless you all, and continue to share this blessing with others.

A book you can't put down  Mar 18, 2007
I am a librarian at a small public library. One of our regular patrons thought this book would make a good addition to our book club section and asked if I would read it. I am so glad that I did. At first I didn't realize it was a true story, but once I did, I was amazed and very touched by the amount of faith Ron, Denver, and all their friends had during Deborah's illness and subsequent death. I think all of us should read a book like this to get us back on track with what is really important in life- faith in God! I plan to buy several copies of this book to add to our collection and I hope many others who read this book will enjoy it like I did.
