Book Description
So What's the Difference has been revised and updated for the 21st Century to help Christians better understand their own beliefs. A classic first released in 1967, this revision takes a current look at the answer to the question, "How does orthodox biblical Christianity differ from other faiths?" In a straightforward, non-critical comparison, Fritz Ridenour explores and explains the basic tenets of 20 worldviews, religions and faiths, including Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian Science, New Age and Mormonism.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Can't learn about all faiths from 1 book  Dec 16, 2008
I don't think a fair or complete understanding of any religion can be made by reading one book. I think a greater study of works from each religion we're interested in, and a comparison/contrast based on information from the actual believers in each faith is a more accurate way to discern differences.

Biased, innacurate, and condescending  Mar 6, 2007
The author seems to think that he can pass judgement any way he pleases without even offering accurate information. Avoid this one.

Very biased  Feb 15, 2007
This book makes me sick. I give it one - and only one - star because of the fact of what it tries to do...I do feel there needs to be a resource where one can compare major world religions, and get all the facts. This book most certainly does NOT get all the facts straight. It does an excellent job of presenting biased, opinionated views of all the religions that the author does NOT subscribe to. I am a member of one of the faiths that this book blatantly insults and gives those who do not share the same opinions ammunition to "battle it out" in order to prove a point. I am insulted by those Christians who think it is their God-given right to belittle and debunk every other faith which does not agree 100% with their own.

Awesome  Feb 14, 2007
Very informative...To the point. A book every Christian should have in his/her library. The book gives you the right tools for spiritual battle

Easy to understand, not too deep.  Jan 12, 2007
Neither Lk 22:19; or Malachi 1:11 refer to a "Daily" commandment to hold mass or take communion. Christ was crucified by the "SYSTEM." The ONLY time Jesus spoke harshly was to the system. The curtain seperating the holy of holies was torn when Christ died. Stephen was martyrd when he told the system "GOD does not live in houses built by the hands of men. Peter is nothing more than another failed human being, who believed. Even after believing he denied his even knowing Christ. Gove it a break man. The point about Catholocism that's WRONG is you do not need to have a mediator other than Christ. Jesus is the way the truth and the life. No one goes to the Father except by him. Now I don't see any human being in the chain of command to GOD almighty. Where does the pope or peter fit in that picture?

Jesus said you're either for me or against me. So any other belief system from that stand point is a cult. Hell, the Sanhedrin considered the Savior of ALL mankind a cult leader.

Draw your line and choose which side to stand on.

Though finding similarities in belief is much more constructive, this book is ABOUT DIFFERENCES !!

Fritz writes in a style that is easily digested by any age group. If you want to get deeper, get more books and pray and let the Holy Spirit reveal the TRUTH to you !!

Just as it says  Dec 30, 2006
I read this book back in the 1970s in high school Sunday school and am now back to buy a copy for someone else who needs to know exactly what the description says, "The aim of this book is to compare orthodox Biblical Christianity with other faiths in order to help Christians better understand their own beliefs." and I add, "...and the beliefs of religions on the same pivotal points of being a follower of Jesus."

It gives concise reference to the crucial beliefs of orthodox Christianity on Who is God, Who is Jesus, Who is the Holy Spirit, What is the Bible, How are we saved, etc. This is a book written by a Christian for Christians (those who follow Jesus as God and are saved alone by His death and resurrection). Those commenters below who couldn't stand the book of course didn't like what it said because it was not written from their particular non-Christian point of view. Jesus Himself said the way is narrow. I'd suggest those people get over their own intolerance. You are free to hate every word that this author, the Bible, and Jesus say about the narrow way, that you must come to God through Himself (Jesus), that He is God, that Jesus will save us from our sins, etc. Fortunately we still live in a society where we are free to disagree on these issues, but we can never forget that being tolerant is a two-way street and it is paved with love.

I've used this book to start conversations with those of other faiths to show them where our views are different and in most cases they are mutually exclusive of each other. It doesn't mean we can't be friends or care about one another, it just means we're banking our reality and eternity on different things, such as either Jesus is God as He said He was, or He isn't. We each have an opportunity to decide for ourselves after studying and praying through all materials available.

I highly recommend this book for Christians who want to know how other beliefs compare to our own, and also for those tolerant enough of Christians and want to know what we believe are the most important truths to our relationship with God. I've also found it helpful to those of other faiths who don't really know what their religion really believes, because some of these points are not taught openly.
