 | An Exhilerating Climb! Apr 29, 2007 |
In a world filled with self help books that are a rehash of frequently cited missives, Rich Fettke's book is a refreshing change of pace. Extreme Success provides a unique perspective and offers a multitude of unique thoughts on improving one's performance.
Potential buyers beware! Fettke is an action advocate. Those looking for an approach to success strictly through "thinking big thoughts" will be disappointed. But, if you believe big thinking must be coupled with big action, Fettke's book is an excellent guide to an exhilarating climb. He is a poster child for the action imperative!
As a six time graduate of Outward Bound expeditions, I was very comfortable with the many analogies that Rich introduces through his experiences in facing challenges when climbing, skydiving, and the like. I too have found climbing to be a great mind and body stretcher. Readers who haven't experienced such challenges just need to accept his teaching points on face value, something I found easy because of the authenticity that pours off the pages.
One example of that authenticity and his exceptional wisdom is the story of pushing his daughter on a swing and her teaching him that we all are on a different path and one should not push without permission. Gems like that fill this book, making it heads and shoulders above other self help books.
PS His challenge for all of us to become "Angel Advocates" rather than "Devil Advocates" is a gem that can pay huge dividends for those who take pride in "challenging" the dreams and plans of others.

| This is not your standard self-help book. It's written in an entertaining and thought provoking manner that uses real life examples from the authors work work with his coaching clients and his adventures in extreme sports. Excellent! | | | | Really Empowering! Oct 18, 2004 |
What does it take to be an extreme success? Does it take long hours at the office? Can you have a life besides work?
In this empowering book, Rich shows you that you can achieve extreme success without compromising your health and relationships. Yes you can make more money by having a balanced life compared to a workaholic way of life.
Yes, make no mistake--long hours and relentless persistence pays off. But it does have to be at all cost? Rich does shows you how you can achieve greater results by letting go. By not working so hard. Yes of course you're going to have to put in the effort, but Rich shows you how to make it fun!
Another vital lesson contained is how to deal with fear. Rich as dedicates much time to work with people to break through their fears and go on to life their ideal life.
He recounts many personal tales of how he dealt with fear by embracing it rather than fighting it.
And make no mistake Rich walks the talk. He describes in great detail how he dealt with fear in life and death situations. He tells how he even saw his tombstone (in the event of the worse case scenario when we was bungee jumping off the Golden Gate bridge) He recounts how he panicked when his parachute wouldn't open at 5000 feet up in the air after parachuting from an airplane, falling speedily towards the ground.
And most importantly he shows how we can use these examples in our daily life to be more courageous and take on bigger risks; to challenge ourselves to go to the next level. We all know that nothing great has ever been achieved without stretching. So read this book and utilize the awesome practical techniques and strategies to your own journey of Extreme Success!

| I've read and listened to MANY "success books", If you are serious about having a great life and being successful, you need to read more than one success book. This book is one of the best. Most important is that there is "to do" lists and blank forms that make it easy TO DO. The only thing more important than reading all these success books is to ACT ON THEIR ADVICE. Rich makes it easy to act, that is paramount on the road to a successful life. | | | | Sweet Success Apr 10, 2004 |
As a professional personal coach I found Rich Fettke's "Extreme Success" an excellent resource for tips and techniques for use with my clients (not to mention myself!). My favorite is his idea of dealing wtih fears that inhibit us from doing the things we need to do to move forward in our lives. Called "dancing with your protector," it's an imaginative and powerful way to reframe the obstacles in our lives in a way that can actually propel us forward with a greater liklihood of success.
I host a radio program in Seattle called "The Working Life!(sm)" and have interviewed Rich about his book. I found him to be engaging and sincerely interested in helping all of us to make the most of what we've been given in this life. If we can do that--really do that--then our success will not only be extreme, but sweet. | | | Write your own review about Extreme Success: The 7-Part Program That Shows You How to Succeed Without Struggle
