Product Description
Recent immigrant Christians from India are changing the face of American Christianity. This is the first comprehensive study of these Christians, their churches, and their adaptation. Contemporary mobility and rapid communication create new transnational religious groups, and Williams reveals some of the reverse effects on churches and institutions in India. He notes some successes and failures of mediating institutions in the United States in responding to new forms of Christianity brought by immigrants.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Great Overview of the Indian Christian Perspective  Oct 5, 1999
I am extremely excited to find a book focused on the Indian American Religious experience. As a member of one of the Churches mentioned in this book, I have to say Dr. Williams has hit the nail on the head about the different Indian Christian denominations. For myself, the discussion of the Orthodox Church is refreshing and honest. This is a great book for those who know little about Indian Christianity, and also those who think they know everything about Indian Christianity.

Well researched book but too much of a survey  Apr 24, 1999
Prof. Brady has clearly researched nearly every single group of Indian Christians in the United States from Syrian Christians all the way to the Pentecostals to write this book. However, he presents it more as a survey than with a clear understanding of the greater issues that face the Indian Christian community in the U.S. today. Still, it is probably the only book published in the United States that gives such an overview of such a subject in a terrific manner.
