 | A Superb Novel Jun 28, 2008 |
'False Witness' is a great story with lots of twists and turns.
The author, Randy Singer, has become one of my favorites. His writing reminds me of the early John Grisham works and is far better than anything that Grisham has done in a long while.
This tale contains all kinds of adventure. It has an extremely powerful and priceless code that is capable of destroying Internet security, Chinese mafia members, witnesses who are not well protected by the federal witness protection program, the FBI, and much more. This novel is outstanding in terms of plot, characters, action, and virtually any other standard by which one would compare it.
Not only is he a great storyteller, but Singer weaves in a Christian worldview in places without being preachy at all. He certainly can craft a great read without grauitous sex, violence, or profanity. He is very skilled and does not need to use such things to keep the reader's interest.
I highly recommend this book to anyone - not just Christians. He is truly a master novelist and his work will appeal to anyone who loves a great story. | | | | A True Master of the Craft Nov 21, 2007 |
Law student Jaime Brock dreams of becoming a prosecutor so she can take down criminals and dole out justice. Part of her training includes volunteering for a local legal aid clinic under the supervision of one of her professors. Little does she know that her newest client, David Hoffman, will changer her life in ways she never imagined.
David and Stacie Hoffman are on the run and the stakes couldn't be higher. In their former lives they testified against the Chinese mafia in return for new lives in the Witness Protection program. The government promised to protect them at all costs, but when the Chinese mafia tracks them down again, the Hoffman's smell foul play. In their possession is an algorithm that holds the key to unlock every Internet security measure that exists. Both the Chinese mafia and the government will go to great lengths to get their hands on the algorithm, and David and Stacie no longer know who to trust. Their only hope lies in the hands of Jaime Brock and her friends.
Randy Singer never disappoints and this latest offering is further proof. Make no mistake about it, False Witness is not just a legal thriller. Singer expertly combines elements of suspense, action, and intrigue into an explosive combination that really delivers. Having read only one other Singer novel (Directed Verdict), I am amazed at not only how great his writing is, but also at how little I hear his name discussed.
Singer is a true master of the craft, and once again he treats us with expert plot execution, crisp dialogue, hard core suspense, and fabulous characters. Bottom line: this guy is good. Seriously good. I have a stack of Singer novels on my shelf and you can bet I'll be diving in ASAP. I can only hope others will discover this great talent so he will get the recognition his writing deserves. | | | | Thriller to the end Oct 8, 2007 |
Chinese Mafia, bondsmen, bounty hunters, FBI agents, lawyers, and the mathematical discovery of the century all combine to make False Witness an intriguing twist of action and mystery.
Professor Dagan and his protégée discover an algorithm capable of cracking most internet security encryption. However, when the Chinese Mafia and the US government, set their mind to obtaining this algorithm, a chain events is set it motion that will forever change the lives of a young couple; forcing them to enter the witness protection program and rely on a government, they do not trust, for their survival.
At worse, False Witness is a good book. It's really a great book. The plot is interesting and at times unpredictable; the action fast paced and continuous. Corruption is deep and the good guys are not always as they seem. However, the real genius of this book is in the characters. From nerdy Wellington Farnsworth to brash Isaiah Haywood, each character has multiple layers, with each layer revealing a little more about humanity.
I've read four other books by Randy Singer which I enjoyed, but I do believe this is his best to date. Definitely well worth reading. | | | | False Witness a great read! Sep 24, 2007 |
| False Witness was a great read - a real page turner. I stayed up much too late reading! My only criticism is that characters occasionally refer to a "right to privacy" as if there is such a thing and that it exists on a level with the right to vote, to speak freely or to keep and bear arms. It doesn't detract from the story as a whole but does perpetuate the myth of a Constitutionally codified "right to privacy." Overall a great read that I'd recommend to anyone. | | | | False Witness Aug 23, 2007 |
