Item Description...

In Juris Prudent: Surviving and Thriving in Law School, RV Seep bares his soul about his law school experience and about what he wishes he had known prior to it. This book is an excellent first step in preparing for the intellectual rigors of legal study and for the emotional and spiritual demands placed on students. Learn of the day-to-day routine, the subjects you will study, the competition among students, and the quirks of the law school environment. Consider seasoned advice on briefing cases, taking notes, negotiating the Socratic classroom, making outlines, assessing and using study aids, writing memoranda and briefs, and preparing for and taking exams. Get counsel on how to take all these things in stride in a pressure cooker environment. Steal a peek at some of the cultural and spiritual issues coming your way. Ponder the author's "Spirit and Mud" tutorials gleaned from his law school years. This book is written as a father's gift to his son, but is profitably read by anyone considering law school, about to enter the profession, or generally interested in the law and legal education.

Don't start law school without reading this book  Nov 28, 2006
Most law school students discover how to do well in their classes after the first year. But that is one year too late! Those who graduate with honors, those who are invited to join the law journal staff, are the students who determined how to study law at the beginning of the first year. This book provides that all-important information. I plan to give a copy of this book to anyone I know who is even considering attending law school. It contains priceless wisdom.

Tells you what you need to know about law school  Jan 21, 2005
If you are getting ready for law school and don't have someone to tell you what it's really like, then this is the book for you. Law professors don't teach you what you have to know; you've got to do that for yourself, and this book will clearly and concisely explain "the game" to you. And a game it is. Those who know how to play it get "A"s and those who don't struggle through the biggest academic challenge of their lives. This struggle is artificial and largely unnecessary; it is "the game" perpetuated by law schools. Read this book before you start your first semester, use the author's suggestions for class preparation and study, and do well. Anyone smart enough to get accepted into a law school is smart enough to make law review. You just have to understand the game.
