| This book is very insightful and encouraging for all mothers, especially new moms. If your child/children are young, under five, it is the perfect start. Plowman leads you through her own experiences which aid in ideas of reaching your own child's heart. If you can help your child decide what choices demonstate love he/she will be in the right direction in making good choices. As young parents looking for resources to help guide us through the maze of raising our children, we found Ginger Plowman's balanced, personal, and very thoughtful approach in Don't Make Me Count to Three refreshing and insightful.
I've read a lot of books on child-raising, all filled with great spiritual wisdom and Biblical instruction and yet many read like stuffy lectures. What Ginger Plowman brings in her book is personal experience, lighthearted wisdom, and an earnest desire to help others raise children who love God.
I'm especialy pleased with her effort because she avoids the dangerous trap of those who subscribe to Biblical child-raising: legalism. As a church kid who has now entered the world of parenting, I have a sensitive eye towards an approach that empahsizes rules rather than a relationship with God. Ultimately our job as parents is not to create moral citizens, but young men and woman who have their own passionate walk with God. Ginger focuses on matters of the heart and shaping a child from the inside-out. I like this balanced approach very much and I think you will as well.

| I thought this book was an easy reader, very practical, humorous, and helpful in how to implement changes immediately. The material in the book was beneficial for myself as well as my children. It teaches you how to "tweak" your instruction and discipline to get your children to listen and apply, while teaching them the ultimate goal of honoring others, making good decisions, and giving glory to God. | I am constantly amazed when I read online reviews of books like this one that reviewers (who claim to have read the book) think the book is about spanking. This book is about how to *communciate* with your child (verbally) about their behavior, responses and thoughts. The author is humble and fun - I completely agree with the other reviewer who said it was like having a friend sit down with you over coffee and share her greater experience. The vast majority of chapters address how to dialogue with your child through Scripture to help them think biblically about their actions. The book does offer ideas for methods other than spanking, such as role-playing correct behavior. I found it refreshing, biblical and encouraging.
