| This book opens your eyes and understanding to the world of emotions and how much trouble they can cause a girl in a relationship with a boy. It shows how girls make up a dream life with a boy they think is cute just setting themselves up to have the dream shattered and cause them unnecesarry emotional and physical pain. The author uses her own experience to show how a girl or guy can guard from hurting themselves or each other by guarding how they think about each other and where they let their minds go when they think about each other. I have personally stopped the bad pattern of dissolusionment with guys Im attracted to by taking charge of the way I think about my relationship to them. After having searched long and hard for a good book on purity meant for the heart of girls, I bought this on the recommendation of a friend, and it was exactly what I was looking for. I have found that the major percentage of books out now focus on the mistakes other people make and try to tell you how to patch things up and move on, without much advice on how to avoid them in the first place. They will also tend to veer towards the physical aspect of relationships. This one though, goes to the heart of the problem for many girls, which is emotional purity. The keeping and guarding of our emotions and propensity to emotional attachment, which is one of God's gifts to a woman for her husband. I loved the practical advice given, and also the little sections "For Guys" at the ends of the chapters. All in all a highly recommended book for a young woman in Christ seeking to stand for purity as a whole, or even a young man seeking how to better guard the hearts of his sisters in Christ.

After much reading, listening, and generally much time spent reviewing what has been recently put out on this subject, this book exceeded my expectations.
The author writes, not from a puritanistic, sheltered perspective, but from a realistic standpoint, yet clearly with a desire to be holy and set apart.
She gives great truths that I think can be easily and clearly communicated to all ages of singles - male and female, youths on up! Phenomenal book - a quick read, but one that I think begs a second - or third - read. | | | Write your own review about Emotional Purity
