 | An Update of the NIV Full Life Study Bible May 27, 2010 |
For many years the Assemblies of God has supported taking the Full Life Study Bible (or the Life in the Spirit Study Bible) and helping Christians in foreign nations to learn the Word of God through the study notes. Missionaries worked to translate the notes from the Full Life into their own languages from Spanish to French to Chinese. The result was the Fire Study Bible. It was not available in English until now. Hendrickson Bible Publishers along with Life Publishers (of the Assemblies of God) has made the Fire Bible available in English for the first time.
If you have used the Full Life or Life in the Spirit Study Bibles then you are familiar with the notes. While the note are not as extensive as in some study Bibles, there are enough notes to help you study the Word of God from a Pentecostal perspective. The notes embrace a full belief in both the inerrancy and authority of the Bible which is comforting to read. The notes reflect classical Pentecostal theology, Premillennialism, pre-tribulation rapture, and strongly advocate holiness, the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the initial, physical evidence being speaking in tongues, divine healing in the atonement, and Arminian doctrine concerning salvation.
I enjoy this new edition of the Full LIfe because the notes are more condensed. The Bible, while still large, is much more handy now than before. It is easier to carry and I have found it easier to read. I do wish that the NIV were not the only translation that they choose to use but I find the NIV to be a worthy translation though I would prefer the ESV or the NASB.
Overall, whether you are Pentecostal or not, you will enjoy this study Bible and find the notes worth reading and using as well as the various articles written throughout that reflect Pentecostal theology. | | | Write your own review about NIV Fire Bible Student Edition-HC
