I wish I had these when I was growing up. These two manga novels (Manga Messiah and Manga Metamorphosis) are awesome. They are translated from the original Japanese and drawn in genuine manga style (manga basically means Japanese comic book). The art is fantastic and they endeavoured to make it as accurate as possible, including scripture references at the bottom of each page.
They are the size of a standard paperback book, and just as thick with full-colour art on every page. You don't have to be a teen to enjoy these, they really bring to life the events in the New Testament. Manga Messiah details Jesus's life in the gospels, while Manga Metamorphosis is the entire book of Acts (that's Paul on the front cover), plus illustrated summary versions of Paul's letters.
Our heroes of the Faith never looked more awesome. Highly recommended for all.

I wish I had the video capability to show examples of the horrendous art in the Manga Messiah & Metamorphosis books. However well-intentioned the producers and promoters of these "comics" may be, as a Christian clergyman, I deplore the way they portray not the "the bad guys", but even the "good" guys.
Some have objected to these comics on the grounds that they promote anti-semitism. And having seen the way Germany which was 98% "Christian" portrayed Jews not just during the Holocaust, but leading up to it, I can't argue with that point of view. But what disturbs me is that it promotes a view of the world in which there are good people (us) and horrible, ugly, vicious people, (them).
I have heard that these comics are being distributed free of charge by the hundreds of thousands (millions eventually ?) in Africa. Some may imagine that the Tutsis who massacred their Hutu friends and neighbors recently were all savages. They weren't. They were Roman Catholics and other Christians. I don't know if they had yet been subject to the influence of such literature, but it boggles my mind how anybody would want to encourage people ANYWHERE, let alone in underdeveloped Africa, to view others in the negative light promoted by comics such as these!!!!

| I was looking forward to Manga Metamorphosis with great anticipation after getting Manga Messiah (which was amazing!). This book seeks to be true to the Bible just like the first book. It's simplified so that it is a more accessible missionary tool as well as easier to understand for those who have never read scripture. The quality of the entire package, illustrations, text, computer coloring and presentation is top notch. There are other Christian graphic novels, but I don't know of any (in english) which stand up to Manga Messiah and Manga Metamorphosis. I also like that the company sends hundreds of copies to places not as exposed to the Bible in hopes of helping to spread the Word. This is a great book for those who read the Bible regularly and those who have never read it. Get Both BOOKS! | | | Write your own review about Manga Metamorphosis
