| I have wanted this Atlas forever and finally got it for Christmas. Great gift, beautiful maps. I also appreciate the very comprehensive index. My only complaint is with the protective slip sleeve box. This box probably really isn't necessary, but when you are paying so much for an Atlas its nice to have. But I found that it was so difficult to get the Atlas in and out of the box, it wasn't worth the time. It became a two person operation with one person pulling on the slip sleeve box, the other person pulling on the book. It took five minutes to get the Atlas back in the sleeve. | This atlas is a wonderful reference tool (many thematic maps) as well as a very entertaining browse. The beautiful, colorful maps in combination with the accompanying photographs virtually transport you from your armchair into the far away land - more than a traditional atlas page does. And the 14-page section on Space is the best illustration of the solar system and the universe I've seen published.
