Item Description... Overview Where did we get this idea that we can't change? From whence come statements such as, "It's just my nature to worry." "I'll always be pessimistic. I'm just that way." "I can't help the way I react. I have a bad temper." Such thoughts are not from God. He can no more leave a life unchanged than a mother can leave a tear untouched. His plan for you is nothing short of a new heart. If you were a car, God would want control of your engine. If you were a computer, God would claim the software and the hard drive. If you were an airplane, He'd take His seat in the cockpit. But you are a person, so God wants to change your heart. Max Lucado tells how God loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave you there. He wants you to have a heart like His. He wants you to be Just Like Jesus.

 | A Good Encouragement by Lucado to Hang in There! Mar 16, 2007 |
The central theme of just like Jesus is that He loves us as we are but He also wants to change and conform us to His image. Of course, this will require some changes on our part! While the process may be painful and inconvenient, the results will be well worth it.
Lucado focuses on the human heart being changed by Jesus Christ as described in the following chapters:
1. A Forgiving Heart 2. A Compassionate Heart 3. A Listening Heart 4. A God-Intoxicated Heart 5. A Worship-Hungry Heart 6. A Focused Heart 7. An Honest Heart 8. A Pure Heart 9. A Hope-Filled Heart 10. A Rejoicing Heart 11. An Enduring Heart 12. Fixing Your Eyes on Jesus
The book is an excellent encouragement to the reader to let Jesus Christ bring about change in the best way He sees fit.
Read, enjoy, and be challenged. Highly recommended! | | | | A jaw-dropping premise for this book! Jan 22, 2007 |
| What if Jesus became you for the next 24 hours--went to your job, came home to your family? What would he see? What would others tell him about you? In my opinion, Max Lucado's best book. | | | | Best Yet Dec 2, 2006 |
I have just about worn out my copy of this book. I have read it and read it over and over again. Each time I read it, I get something new from it. I have been searching for it on CD for my grown sons, but cannot find it. Mr Lucado's vivid examples of God's love for us are unmatched by any other author. If you buy just one book -- buy this one. -- L.D. from Raleigh, NC. | | | | Remodeling My Heart Sep 19, 2006 |
Just Like Jesus is written by Max Lucado with story adaptations by Monica Hall. This non-fiction book, which is written for pre-teens and teens, is comprised of 14 chapters and 195 pages. While typed in three contemporary fonts and two colors, the easy to read print and wide margins appeal to many teens. Just Like Jesus contains many real life illustrations and scripture passages. This book was published by Tommy Nelson in 2003. The main theme is that "God loves you just the way you are...but He refuses to leave you there. He wants you to have a heart like Jesus, to be like Him." The various chapters in the book are all related to the heart. We should have a pure heart, a change of heart, and mostly, a heart like Jesus'.
Beginning the first chapter, Max Lucado writes about two teenage sisters, Molly and Caitlin. Molly is finally leaving to go to college which means Caitlin gets "The Room" that belonged to Molly. "The Room" was an attic which the oldest daughter living at home got to remodel. Finally the moment comes for Caitlin to have "The Room" all to herself. She work on painting her walls the palest blue, sponging fluffy, white clouds, tracing trees for her forest, and painting soft bands of colors for her marvelous rainbow which sets on her brightly colored walls. But beyond the pretty walls and the bright paint, something was missing. It wasn't until her birthday when she received a gift from Molly, that she realized what it was. Caitlin opened the beautiful keepsake box which Molly had sent. Inside the incredible box, a talented artist had brushed a rainbow across a soft leather Bible. Caitlin had forgotten about God's promises. She had been too busy remodeling her room that she neglected the important inside thing. Caitlin needed to work on decorating her heart- to have a heart like Jesus'.
Although Just Like Jesus is a great, inspiring book, the switching of the stories back and forth within each chapter can be very confusing. Other than that, Max Lucado gave me, a pre-teen, practical point on how I can be just like Jesus. Using real life teen stories, Max Lucado shows how Bible truths apply to a teen's everyday life. The chapters are written to relate to my personal life, whether at home, school, or even playing sports. Each chapter contains information about the heart including the following: a forgiving heart, a compassionate heart, and a focused heart. After reading Just Like Jesus you will want to have a heart just like His. | | | | great content, interesting font Sep 8, 2005 |
| So I love this book. It's life changing, moving, beautiful. It's one of those books that tells you why you should be just like Jesus, but then gives you real tools to do so. Only problem with it was when they sent me the books (I bought them for our Community Group) they were the "comfort print" which means the font was so big there's only about three words on a page. It didn't say that's what I was ordering which bugs a little. Anyway, I highly recommend this book! | | | Write your own review about Just Like Jesus-Comfort Print
