This is the first book by Max Lucado that I have read, and it will not
be the last. Before I picked up this little gem, I thought that I was well-versed in the meaning of Christ's crucifixion. I thought I understood the `what' and `why' of the Passion, but I was wrong. With the turn of each page, I realized that there was so much about that fateful day that I never fully realized, and now I'm a better person and a better Christian. Lucado takes the reader through an in-depth look at the symbolism that is scattered throughout the crucifixion story. Things like the crown of thorns, the burial cloth, the wine-soaked sponge and the nails themselves, things that I once thought were mere objects, became so
much more through Lucado's teaching. He intertwines this teaching by
injecting anecdotal stories to add perspective, a tool used by many
Sunday morning preachers, that bring a sense of familiarity to the topic.
The lesson conveyed is that there is so much more to Christ's sacrifice
than any reader might realize. Max Lucado's writings are treasured by Christians around the globe, and now I consider myself one of those. If someone is curious about the basis of Christianity or is young in their faith and they want to learn more, this book if perfect for them. But it's equally perfect for the person who thinks they fully understand Christ's sacrifice on the cross, you'd be surprised at what you learn by reading this book. Thank you, Max Lucado

| This book really dives into the true meaning of all that Christ did for you right at the Cross. There are many things that I already knew in this book, but things that I did not. I also came to realize many details about the power of the Cross after reading He Chose the Nails. Max Lucado does an awesome job in describing the amount of love and devotion Christ showed for both you and I by dying with three nails.
