Item Description... Overview SUPERANNO The inspiring biography of Pope John Paul II, in a beautifully illustrated hardcover format for children, tells the story of Karol Wojtyla's (nicknamed "Lolek") childhood in Poland along with both the happy and challenging times that helped form the character, values, and vision of a man that became one of the most admired and loved leaders in the world. Publishers Description Lolek is a celebration of the childhood of Pope John Paul II. He was a little boy who, despite tragedy and oppression in his young life during World War II, was a shining example for his peers and adults alike. Pope John Paul II was a world class freedom fighter, campaigning for world peace as a human rights advocate and defender of the oppressed. During his combat against world poverty, he taught that every life is precious no matter one's nationality or religious belief, whether one is rich or poor, young or old. One of Lolek's greatest achievements was the downfall of Communism in Europe. He encouraged people to feel their own power, and the power of faith led to the freedom of half a continent. Children 4-12 years. |

| Lolek is a beautifully illustrated and clearly written work of art. While the straight-forward style makes the story accessible to children, the fascinating details captured and held my interest. Just as the pope himself appealed to people of all religions, so too should this book. The universal themes of hope, peace, courage, faith, and overcoming oppression flow naturally from this heartfelt work. By the end, I felt both inspired and serene. Whether you want to strengthen your faith in God, your faith in the human race, or you simply want an interesting and fun story to read with your children, I highly recommend this book! | | | Write your own review about Lolek - The Boy Who Became Pope John Paul II
