Reviews - What do our customers think?
 | Slow and Boring Mar 18, 2007 |
| I love other Lori Copeland books, have read 5 or 6 of them, think they are funny, entertaining, well written, and I read for the christian content too, but this book just doesn't have it!! I don't know what happened, but I'm not through with it yet, and am not sure I can finish it, it is so boring, without an interesting plot. If you haven't read other Lori Copeland's books, try one from another series!!!!! | | | | whiney, whiney, whiney Jul 18, 2006 |
| I didn't get past the first few chapters. The character was just too whiney for me. She whines about her husband dying and not leaving her insurance money, she whines that her mother-in-law (who only has to take 1/2 a blook pressure pill a day and is completely physically independent and intellectually intact)lives with her, she whines that her adult daughter who has just become a widow is coming home, she whines because she can't make the best-seller list. Maybe later in the book she learned to appreciate the blessings she has but I couldn't take any more of her pity party to find out how it all ended. | | | | A Case of Bad Taste Sep 25, 2005 |
| A very funny and endearing book. Highly recommend it. | | | | Disappointed Sep 9, 2005 |
| I have to say I was eagerly looking forward to this book and series, but I have been very disappointed. I love Copelands Island of Heavenly Daze series, but I just don't like this series. It seems to be very repitious, and I don't think i've even gotten beyond page 60...and I know I'm not going to. | | | | How terrible. Jul 28, 2005 |
I honestly cannot believe this book has gotten good reviews. It is absolutely not anything like what the cover might say - it is not particularly funny, it is not even really a mystery.
I picked this book up for some light reading, so granted, I couldn't expect too much. The major problem is that this story could have been told in about 1/3 the pages it takes now. The story is so incredibly slow, I only finished it because I thought the end might be redeeming. The ending was possibly the worst part. It was a complete let down. I actually question what in the world the book was even written about in the first place, just to come to an ending like that.
The book was just a few hundred pages of quaintness, which gets old after a while, and one family can only be so cliche. If the idea of a grumpy cat walking around a house is absolutely positively hilarious and speaks to your soul, then maybe this is the book for you, but everyone else should definitely not waste their time.
It is true, as one other reviewer noted, that the book does have Christian themes that I wasn't aware were going to be present at all. I wouldn't go far as to say they are offensive in any way whatsoever, but just be expecting them.
Even for "light reading," this book proved to just plain be worthless. Don't waste your time. | | | Write your own review about A Case of Bad Taste (A Morning Shade Mystery #1)
