Product Description
Son of superheroes must save the world from villain.

Outline
The idea of a high school for superheroes will appeal to teens and preteens, who struggle powerlessly with petty authoritarians, bullying peers, and their own rampant hormones, and Sky High spotlights young Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano, Lords of Dogtown), the son of top-of-the-heap superheroic couple the Commander (Kurt Russell, Tango & Cash) and Josie Jetstream (Kelly Preston, View from the Top). Unfortunately, though he's about to be dropped into the midst of kids who can stretch, turn to living stone, or shoot fire, Will has yet to develop any powers at all--and may never develop them. His development anxieties (and some entertaining metaphors for high school social hierarchies) contrast with a bubbling plot by an old foe of the Commander's to destroy Sky High and all of superhero-dom. Sky High has a great supporting cast (including Bruce Campbell, Army of Darkness; Dave Foley, NewsRadio; Lynda Carter, Wonder Woman; and Cloris Leachman, Young Frankenstein) and a handful of funny, offhand bits, but the bulk of the movie is bland and obvious. Younger kids may not mind the clumsy action scenes, generic dialogue, and tacky production design, but even comic-book-loving teenagers will label Sky High bargain-basement. --Bret Fetzer

The Eighties Music Alone Makes This Movie Worth Watching  Aug 5, 2009
This is one of my favorite movies. Previous reviewers have described the movie, so I want get into that. What I like the most about the movie besides its obvious spoofing of other superhero movies is the music. Not only did they have great 80's music in this movie, but they used it in such a way that it actually helped tell the story. My favorite scene in the movie is the "party" scene at Will's house when Gwen tells Layla that Will doesn't need to be friends with her anymore. Playing "Voices Carry" in the background was the perfect touch.

Super Cute!  Jul 22, 2009
SKY HIGH is a Disney movie about a high school, SKY HIGH, for the children of superheroes. Here, they study to be either a) superheroes or b) sidekicks (aka Hero Support). As with any high school, there are social cliques, raging hormones, and impossible homework, but SKY HIGH takes it all to a whole new level.

It is the first day of high school at SKY HIGH for freshman Will Stronghold, son of superhero power couple The Commander and Jetstream. Unfortunately for Will, he is a bit delayed and has not yet developed his powers. He washes out at "power classification" and is shunted off to the sidekick track. To make matters worse, he learns that, in very rare cases, the offspring of two superheroes may never develop powers. Will makes the best of his situation, but is very worried about disappointing his top of the heap parents. And of course, there is evil lurking about, and it seems to be targeting Will's family. Will Will get his powers in time? Will he get them at all? Will he be able to save his family and the world? Tune in to SKY HIGH to find out.

Is SKY HIGH predictable, campy, and cliché? YES! Did I know exactly what was going to happen from the very beginning? YES! Was it immediately obvious who the real heroes and who the villains were? YES! Did I care? NO! NO! NO! SKY HIGH is cute, sweet, and perfect for families. There is no bad language, no sexual innuendo, no gore, and nothing more than mild comic book violence. Just plain, good, clean fun. I, personally, found myself grinning throughout most of this film, enjoying the sheer cuteness of it.

The entire cast does a nice, campy, over the top job of it (hey, they ARE superheroes and super villains, after all), but I especially enjoyed the appearances of Lynda Carter, Cloris Leachman, and Bruce Campbell. The story is typical Disney, with a happy ending and good messages. SKY HIGH teaches kids to be true to themselves, true to their friends, and true to what they believe, all wrapped up in a live action comic book. SKY HIGH is an easy, breezy, light-hearted summer flick, perfect for the entire family.

Fun for kids!  May 13, 2009
This movie is predictable but my young son likes it. This story is about super hero kids with special powers. It has some fun special effects and a positive message for young children. It is a safe movie for children and has some cute moments.

OK, OK, It's pretty fun  May 10, 2009
Let's face it; this movie isn't one an adult is going to go see by themselves. They are going to sit through it with a kid. Sometimes, that can be pure torture.

Sky High is entertaining once you 'buy into' the premise. It makes sense and is 'logical' within its own conceit. And it's pretty fun to watch, too.

Yes, it's predictable, and no one is going to get massacred in the end. But the actors are good, they don't over act to the point of being campy.

I'd recommend this movie to a parent, an aunt, a grandparent who wants a family-friendly way to pass the time.
