| St John of the Cross was Teresa of Avila's spiritual advisor. Her mystical writings always were difficult for me to understand so I was leery of John of the Cross's work figuring that he was even less accessible. However, Kavanaugh presents his work clearly and with good references to understandable concepts. This book has been enlightening to the point that I find it hard to put down ... and that is much more than I expected.
