Item Description... Overview Set in the Scottish Highlands in 1694, this epic novel tells the gripping story of one woman's struggle to find true freedom and love. Deceived by her father and betrayed by the man she loved, Maggie Robertson must turn to God for refuge. With the help of neighboring clan chief Adam Campbell, Maggie must work against the odds and ultimately find that true love, peace, and safety can be found only in God. Betrayed by her father, accosted by her betrothed, and deceived by the one man who holds her heart . . .
Scottish Highlands, 1694. With one brief meeting, a stranger destroys Maggie Robertson?s hopes for her future and threatens everything she has worked so hard to build. Instead of committing to a life of prayer and worship, she finds herself enmeshed once again in her father?s self-serving schemes.
Adam Campbell sees a web of deceit, dishonor, and betrayal spin out before him. Yet, by whatever means necessary, he must bring Maggie Robertson home to fulfill her father?s plans. Even if he must place his own integrity on the line.
Their lives are bound together by circumstances beyond their control. Their hearts are knit together by love. But only God can save them from the forces threatening to pull them apart. |

 | Great Scotish Story. May 24, 2005 |
| Good book, started a bit slow for me but once i read more i really got into it. It's a little hard trying to understand some of the Scottish words and stuff but it you get used to it.The story is about Maggie, a young woman who runs to a nunnery to get away from the evil men in her life. After Adam a man who has been sent by Maggie's father to bring her back arrives, Maggie's life will never be the same. | | | | Adam knows it's not right, but what else can he do? Jan 3, 2005 |
Adam Campbell is sent to retrieve Maggie from her home at the monastery where she wishes to become a nun. He feels a sense of dread at taking this girl from her safe haven unto the mess of a family that she ran from. But his cousin's life is on the line and he has no choice. As they travel back from the monastery Adam and Maggie become quite close. When they arrive at her home and he starts to leave her the trust and closeness is shattered as she believes he betrayed her. Before he leaves he tells her if she should ever have need, that she was to call on him and he would come and get her. On the brink of starvation, her sister and maid strive to save her and send for Adam. When she and her maid are settled at his home, Adam comes to realize he is in love with Maggie, but Maggie is wary of trusting this man again and makes it clear she wishes to go back to the monastery. With every step forward they make, he feels a sense of guilt over things done in the past that he has kept from her . . . but her trust is so fragile, it might drive her away for ever . . . The second book in this series is even better then the first, I can't wait to read the next
