 | Discovering the Leader in You Dec 19, 2009 |
Dani Johnson is an excellent author and speaker and she has learned over many years, and with personal trials, the ways of training for success any and all who come in touch with her. Anyone who is in contact with the church, and possibly others will know that the lack of true leadership is and has been a problem. All must begin with an individual as a child and then to all others as life progesses. Leaders must kmow how to led for change. I love the word 'grooming' that she uses. We,each of us, must suceed in all areas of life, and this book by Dani is just excellent as sa guidebook. Dani has 9 excellent strategies for success in grooming. I believe all fit with grooming our lives to live with the Fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives each day. This book is for all to read, and grow in living a succesful live. | | | | So far it is inspiring. Dec 16, 2009 |
| The book is wonderful thus far. I just started it and I am hopeful for all I will get out of it. | | | | Real Coaching on Parenting Dec 14, 2009 |
Dani Johnson's Grooming the Next Generation for Success is the best parenting book I have ever read.
When I was young, I was appalled at how parents spoke to their children. Today I am appalled at how children speak to their parents. I am shocked at how my college students comport themselves. I can't say much for my colleagues, either! Oh dear! Our society is in deep trouble.
Dani Johnson has a lot of help. The part I like best is the verbatim conversations, how she talks to her children In general, they go something like the following: You want to succeed, don't you? Yes, mom. Want to try that again? Sure, mom. You understand why this family does things like the 2 %, right? Yes, mom, only 2% succeed and so we don't follow the crowd. Right! Good job!
Of course, she does tell us what to do when the response is not as is desired.
I was delighted with her distinction between protection and control. I was impressed at the discipline required even in an affluent home. I was amazed at how she and her husband set up a procedure to test and socialize her teenage daughter's potential date/mate into their system of honoring one another. Given the overall foundation, it is believable that their daughter sits through the initial conversation setting up the rules with a suitor, knowing she is a protected princess, not a controlled piece of disrespected chattel.
If you care nothing about Scripture, nevertheless, you will see the efficacy and sense in what she says. If you are a Bible believing Christian, you will see immediately how Johnson's way of parenting connects with Biblical principles and you will marvel that we haven't lived this way before.
It is high time to improve our parenting. Now is the time to step up to the challenges of the modern world, a world where our children are inundated with sexploitation, laziness and poor thinking. Johnson gives principles and realistic examples from her own family to help us take our parenting to a new level.
This is not a collection of trainers' platitudes. This is a book for the times. I am giving this book away for Christmas. My daughter gets the first such present. If you have anything to do with kids -- or are even are a grandparent like me -- you want to read it before you do the next item on your To Do list. Bravo! Hallelujah!

| | | | Do I believe in Devine intervention (and timing?! Dec 14, 2009 |
"We don't search for books, but they search for us...when they are written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit!" This is a quote from another one of my favorite authors, John Zavlaris. I believe that this book "Grooming the Next Generation for Success by Dani Johnson, is such a book. Funny thing, I had pre-ordered this book, so I wasn't sure of the exact time I would receive it, I had in fact almost forgotten about it. But lo and behold, just as I am in the midst (what perfect timing) of a crucial and unexpected "correction" period with my just-turned 14 year-old daughter, in comes a special delivery from this site with Dani's precious material. I give all the glory to my Heavenly Father for personally communicating and guiding me through this very delicate process with my child. I also thank Him for using Dani to impart wisdom, knowledge, understanding and so much truth on this subject. The book is definitely a God-sent. Three weeks before the book arrived, I had confronted the situation head-on, realizing that the root issue is that of "the heart". Dani's book has added an even clearer dimension of a proven, successful path to implement a needed adjustment in my family's (and my own) life. As soon as I started reading it, I began to jot down a more specific plan of action to impact the life of my daughter. In addition, I was so excited as I read the first few chapters, that I immediately began to impart precious pearls to my 25 and 26 year-old sons. As I continued to read, I recognized that I have done some of the things mentioned in the book with my kids over the years (This was a good excercise, as it gave me immediate information I could apply) but I could also see where we have lacked. The tone of the book is very encourqing though, and motivates me, as well as gives me hope in changing and strengthening weak areas. At first glance some of Dani's observation and suggestions may seem drastic given the life-style of modern America. However, two important factors would persuade me to proceed with an open-mind: Long-lasting innovation has never come from mediocracy or compromise, but it has come from fresh ideals and courageous thinkers, not operating by fear. The other factor that weighs in favor of change, is seeing the "true success" or "good fruit" that has been yielded by Dani herself, and many other people who are living proof that it works. I am sooo glad that someone like Dani, who chose the path of excellence, is now in a position to speak the truth with love and boldness and be heard. Yes, I agree, let's leave our children with a successful legacy of true excellence that will impact even into iternity.
Thanks Dani! Come Away My Beloved - original EditionThe Secret of the Stairs | | | | Informative and Helpful Book Dec 12, 2009 |
This book is most helpful to readers, especially young parents, that need to have confirmation about how to raise their children. Parents do not seem to know what to do with their children. Some parents, I have seen, just seem to "corral" their children and herd them toward the direction they want them to go. Some parents, I have seen, just ignore and turn away from teaching their children the correct way to behave in public. (I do not see in their homes). Mrs. Johnson is helpful in that she speaks to the children in the book in a way the children can respond with obedience and understanding. She uses words that tells them what she wants and why it is necessary to obey her.
Mrs. Johnson has written a book that parents will get a new and fresh insight into parenting. I have recommended this book to several mothers and wish I could give the book to every struggling mother I see. My biggest problem was trying to decide who I should give my book to after I had read it.
I highly recommend this book to all parents.
