| I've read a few very popular devotionals by excellent teachers. However, this one tops them all by far. The reason is that this one is exceptionally encouraging...and I'm mean every single passage. In fact, I can't even pick a favorite as each day I am encouraged so much by each of the writings. Pastor MacArthur is very gifted spiritually. I think this is because he uses his God-given gifts until they overflow. This book examines scripture more in depth than most simple devotional books. The same scripture might be discussed for several days in a row. Each day there is also a prayer suggestion and also a "for further study" section.
