The book is awesome! it help me change my life and this is the first christian nonfiction book i really dove into and love it. Get this book if you are looking for a book to read.

Joel Osteen is at it again. He focuses so much on the here and now, but never challenges anyone over the core issues of life and why life really is the way it is. He's a master at spinning pop phsychology and man's ideas with a smattering of scripture. Never does he address the core need of the human race which is forgiveness of sin, and a restored relationship with our Heavenly Father through our Lord Jesus Christ. Too many people are being duped by this type of teaching in today's pulpits. Shame on Mr. Olsteen

This is a great book. My sister recommended it to me and I purchased it leaving it on my shelf of books to read for many months. Lakewood is the fastest growing church in America for a reason. Pastor Joel Osteen is the most caring person with a real desire to see people grow in their relationship with God. Something that religion cannot help you with, only a truth relationship with the Almighty God through Jesus the Messiah. It is very evident throughout the book. You'll really get a direct link with Pastor Osteen as he shares his heart. After the read you'll know why the book was a New York Times Best Seller. It would also be great for Bible studies and church home groups as you can discuss a chapter each week. It is filled with many examples and applications in life. Thanks Sis for the recommendation!

A friend loaned me the dvd called "The Secret" along with this book to read after watching it. The two go together quite nicely. I would never have picked up this book on my own. I've heard that Joel is a controversial pastor. I really enjoyed "The Secret" though and it really helped me to change my negative thoughts into postive ones, something I've always struggled with. I dived into the book right away. It caught my interest from the first page. I did pray over it before beginning, that God would protect me from error while reading. I am almost done and plan to read it again as soon as I finish the last page. I even bought the study guide to use the next time around. Let me back up. I had chronic fatigue syndrome for several years and while I am much better, I still struggle with adrenal fatigue. My Christian doctor told me the last time I was in his office that I must reprogram my thinking if my adrenals are to heal completely. Instead of seeing the cup half empty, I MUST begin to see it as half full. "The Secret" began my healing journey and this book is completing it. I am shocked to say that this book has changed my life. It's that good. I am still somewhat skeptical about God wanting all of His children to prosper and be healthy and happy but then again....as a parent, I know I want those things for MY children. Don't you? Why would the Lord want us sick and poor? I could go on and on as I'm still learning. I just believe that God is bigger than we make Him out to be, and I also believe that He isn't really in the small boxes we try to keep Him in. I am a solid believer (of 25 years) and I don't grab onto every wind of doctrine that blows my way. However, for me, this book is just what I need at this time in my life to change the negative thinking patterns I've developed over the years and I surprisingly recommend it if you have the same sort of problem that I have. It has seriously changed my life-in ALL good ways.

I bought the book and the CD's and listen and read from them daily. God has used this to lift me out of the mud and mire of depression and set my feet back on the solid ground of walking in obediance and keeping my faith in him. I also bought the "Letting Go of the Past" cassetts. I am inspired by Pastor Joel's love for God and appreciate his sharing these messages. Thank you, D. Erway
