Publishers Description 2009 Retailer's Choice Award winner For Jon and Erin Bennett, the world seems to be spinning dangerously out of control. A new dictator is rising in Iraq. China is making threatening new moves toward Taiwan. North Korean forces appear ready to strike south. Israel is feverishly trying to complete the Third Temple. Oil prices are surging. And in the wake of an horrific war in the Middle East, President James MacPherson's second term is coming to an end. Now the battle to succeed him is heating up into one of the most fiercely contested presidential elections in American history, and the Bennetts realize the stakes could not be higher. Who will lead a bitterly divided country over the next four years? What can the U.S. do to shape the new world order? And just what role--if any--does the U.S. play in the last days? As the presidential campaign narrows into a dead heat, the Secret Service learns of a catastrophic plot to assassinate one of the candidates--but which one, and can the terrorists be stopped in time? |

 | SOOOO GOOD!!! Mar 13, 2010 |
| OMG! I love his books! I started with the non-fiction, Epicenter, and was so intrigued! That book will change how you look at life in these uncertain times. Then, although I'm not a fan of fiction, I picked up Dead Heat (his most recent in the fiction series) and couldn't put it down! Joel Rosenberg is truly gifted with an uncanny ability to paint a picture of what could be coming, based on what the Bible says will happen in the last days. Many of the fictitious events he writes of in his novels materialize in real life! This book has made me want to go back and get the previous books in the series, so that I can start from the beginning, not at the end! | | | | Dead Heat Feb 11, 2010 |
| I didn't read this book myself. I bought it as a Christmas Gift for my parents after seeing it on the reading table of a very prominent family friend. I said, " Here is a book that I saw under so and so's reading lamp, thought you might like it" My parents had never heard of Joel Rosenberg and they read it in one sitting and went to the library and checked out his whole series and gobbled them up! Now I can barely talk to my Mom without her saying "Have you read the book yet? Put down the phone now and go buy it...Now You will understand so much about what is going on today! This is the best author on this subject because he has so much first hand experience. He lets you in places and current events between leaders in the headlines today. Then he uses his knowledge of scriptures to make sense of what is happening today and how it relates to the bible." I told my Mom I will get the book. -Montessori Mom | | | | Political Thriller of Biblical Proportions Aug 12, 2009 |
This is my first dive into a Joel Rosenberg book, maybe because I've only heard of his writings in the secular circles, but I must say I was thoroughly impressed. I thought it would be heavy on the political and light on the Biblical but I was very wrong. Joel has written a strong political thriller from a solid biblical worldview, which unfortunately is not as common as you'd think in the Christian fiction circles. It was the negative reviews that prompted me to read this book and for that I'm grateful.
The storyline was gripping and about as chilling as I can possibly stand. Many twists and surprises that I didn't see coming make the book quite a page-turner. I also like how the events in the book are as current as today's headlines. Even the history and military facts are accurate. (I looked them up because I was curious.) Only the names of certain people have been changed so as not to offend anyone.
"Dead Heat" asks the question "Why isn't the United States mentioned in End Times prophecy?" That's been asked and researched for many years and Joel makes a quest into a possible answer. Not only is his answers possible but they are probable. I just hope I'm not here to find out. How do people live in this chaotic world and not have a relationship with Jesus Christ? I just couldn't imagine.
I give the book 5 stars for it's life-changing message, 4 stars for the storyline and 3 for the writing.
Buy some copies and spread them around. Both Christians and non-believers need the urgency of the message. Our time is shorter then we may think.

| This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It's a fabulous book with unexpected twists and turns. Readers won't be dissapointed! | | | | spiritual fiction Jul 15, 2009 |
| Excellent book. It is one of a four book series. Unfortunately, the publisher did not number them, so when I started reading the series I read them out of order. I definitely would recommend all of Joel Rosenberg's books. It discusses the end times and the upcoming war in the middleast, that will bring about World War 3. It may be fiction, but it is very close to reality and what could happen in the near future. | | | Write your own review about Dead Heat (Political Thrillers Series #5)
