Dr. David Jeremiah's book Living With Confidence in a Chaotic World is a follow up book to his previous book What In the World Is Going On?: 10 Prophetic Clues You Cannot Afford to Ignore which was a presentation on ten Biblical prophecies about the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Shortly after What in the World came out, the financial crisis hit with all of its uncertainty and chaos. As this review is being written, the world is dealing with the aftermath of the Haitian earthquake. Living With Confidence in a Chaotic World was written to help the Christian through this chaotic time in which natural disasters, violence, wars and chaos seem to be the norm of life.
The book is a pastoral approach to reassuring us in troubled times. It is not a deep theological treatise of the Christian life, but is instead aimed at the typical American audience facing relatively mild uncertainty and discomfort. It is interspersed with Bible verses that back up the author's points and the chapters are titled with adjectives that all begin with "C" such as Stay Calm, Stay Compassionate, Stay Constructive, Stay Challenged, etc. This is not intended as a criticism, just pointing out that this is a book that you can read through quickly for reassurance. It is not a book for deep theological study.
A good way to use this book would be to read through each chapter and the references Bible verses and than meditate on the material. This will deepen the message and will help us to apply it to our life.

First I'd like to thank Thomas Nelson Publishers for providing this book for me to review. I would never have read or even heard about this book otherwise.
When dealing with all of the stressors in today's society it's easy to stray in your walk with God. This book gives great ways to remain confident and ties them into scripture in a meaningful way. The chapters include:

Stay Centered
Stay Confident
Stay Consistent
Stay Committed
Stay Convinced
In each chapter the author talks about an area where many people find chaos and then proceeds to tell the reader how to go about surmounting each stress related area. There is humour sprinkled throughout some chapters and the stories/examples the author uses are engaging. I found this to be an easy read and very applicable to today's high stress environment.

If you are a fan of David Jeremiah, you will want to get this book. While he explains the state of today's society and this world's downhill spiral, the author gives us hope by encouraging us to study God's word and living God's ways. The result will be living a full and useful life and facing our lives with confidence.
