 | love comes softly series Dec 21, 2006 |
| i really enjoy this series. i first started getting into this author when i started reading Beverly Lewis about 1 1/2-2 years ago. in my opinion the movies and books do not follow eachother very closely, but both are well done in their own right (like one of the other raters stated-very well, i might add). i have a few other books by Jeanette Oke, but i think that Love Comes Softly is by far the best series i have read by her so far. (i have yet to read all 8) | | | | the movie was not true to the book Dec 21, 2006 |
I haven't yet read the book. I have only seen the movies on Hallmark and love them. However, judging by just the short blips I've read on here the movie didn't follow the book very closely. So for someone thinking they can just watch the movie you won't be getting the full story. Marty isn't in the movie at all and there are other changes that I supose they chose to make because she was not in the story as they filmed it. I am ordering the book and once I've read it I can rate it more realistically. I don't want to be unfair and the rating above is based on the movie alone.
The movie was well done, though I have grown to love Marty's character as well as Clark's and missed seeing her reactions to things that happened. It is heartbreaking on many levels and I can't wait to read it. | | | | Great Book but nothing like the movie Dec 17, 2006 |
| The person who only rated it one star is not being fair. The books were written long before the movies ever came out and they are nothing alike. Both are good in their own rights. I think the entire series is easy and delightful reading. I enjoy most of Janetter Oke's series. The Candian West is also very good. | | | | completely boring Oct 31, 2006 |
| dear readers I have not read any of these books before this one, but I have seen the movies. Odviously I loved them, so I wanted to read the series. When I bought this one I thought "o.k., mostly Marty and Clark." But when I started reading the first page my attention went elseware. THIS BOOK IS SO BORING THAT I DONT THINK THAT I CAN BARE TO FINNISH IT! No offence to the author, but I suppose that I, a teenager, am to young to appreciate the dull reminecences, the unimaginative dialog, and all of the deep southern accents. I am only on page 40 and I am looking for another book to read. So my advice to anyone looking for any action or plot in a book, is to pass this one up and see the movie (cringes as she says it, because she never says it)! I picked up this book thinking that it was a non-cheesy not dscriptive romance novel. But she spends eight times the time thinking and talking about herself than thinking and talking to Clark. I might have enjoyed this seiries if I had read about younger characters. | | | | Long Awaited Reunion Dec 13, 2005 |
This book was great. I was so happy to read Clark and Marty were going to visit Missie and Willie. What an ordeal the trip must have been. The visit, I could picture it in my head. Fabulous writing. I enjoyed this book as much as the first. Recommened to anyone reading this series. I really hope this goes on film. | | | Write your own review about Loves Abiding Joy (Repack)
