| Boice is well-known for his in-depth yet easy to understand commentaries (skillfully breaking down the book of Romans to enable regular people to understand Paul's sometimes thick thoughts), and is a respectable writer. Gleason Archer is also well known for his work in a paper entitled "Alleged Errors and Discrepancies in the Original Manuscripts of the Bible", and wrote the foreward to the book. The problem is, the book is hardly a book, and is more of a thick pamplet. With a 10 page foreward and a 35 page body, there's no way the book can cover any topic concretely; even moreso when the book's divided into Bible Problem topics of: 1) Atonement
2) Moral problems
3) Scienitific
4) Historical
5) Inconsistencies Which are all broad enough to warrant a huge book; 5-6 pages for each problem cannot satisfactorially address the problems. Although it's well-written, easy to understand, and has nice examples, the scope is too big and the content too brief to offer any insight on the issues. Those who want to examine apparent discrepancies with the bible should check out the book Inerrancy. Spend an extra 10 dollars or so and you get a thorough 500+ page book. |
