Item Description...
An amazing array of messages are hidden in this painting called 'If My People'. This painting measures 8 inches by 10 inches, uses paper as its medium and is framed in dark oak.
It is inspired by this verse from 2 Chronicles 7:14 - If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
A beautiful poignant painting that has much to tell, this image is a picture of hope and trust. Jack Dawson weaves a magical picture with his unique 'Seek and Find' series.
This image has 9 messages in it, some openly displayed and some subtle and hidden.
Let's take an in-depth look into this fascinating painting.
1. The torn and tattered flag - Neglect
It symbolizes the neglect and indifference for the principles and values that were the foundation of our country's birth.
2. Bullet holes - Warfare
They symbolize the warfare that is being waged for our freedom, both physical and spiritual.
3. A bullet hole tinged with blood - Sacrifice
It represents the sacrifice of the flag bearer who laid down his life in order to keep high the flag of the country.
4. The Twin towers and a face - Tragedy
September 11 2001 was one of the worst tragedies in the world. This is a remembrance of the people whose lives changed because of it. The Face tells us that we still live in a world that is overflowing with hatred and violence.
5. Demonic faces - Evil
Two demonic faces are symbols of the prevalent evil forces that permeate our living spaces each day. Every day is a battle for spiritual victory over evil.
6. Mending the flag - Hope
The mending of the flag denotes that there is hope and healing for those who have suffered greatly. Jeremiah 29:11 says "I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
7. An unborn baby - Life
The best example of the Lord's blessing is the cycle of life. The unborn baby represents hope for the future as well as teaches us that human life must be valued.
8. Praying people - Prayer
There is redemption in prayer. It is through prayer that the world finds itself redeemed and worthy enough to wake up the next day. God forgives His people when they reach out to Him to heal them, their homes and their country.
9. The hands mending the flag - Jesus
Look closely at the hands mending the tattered flag. Those are the hands of our Savior, Jesus who delivers us from all evil. His are the hands that were nailed to the cross. But He rose again to come back and mend our broken lives and tattered hearts.
This painting is a beautiful gift for someone who has given their whole life to the service of the country.....
More about the Artist
Born in 1950, Jack E. Dawson was an early bird where art was concerned. By 20, he had several accomplishments to his credit including a 30 foot statue, The Praying Hands, that still stands in his hometown Webb City, Missouri. Adept with watercolor, oil, acrylic and sculpture, he believes in using his talents to bring people closer to God. He is now a Sunday School teacher and a deacon in his church.
Bittersweet Gallery is the labor of love of Jack and his wife, Nancy. This endeavor was launched 20 years ago and still stands true. In 1999, Dawson began creating the series, now popularly known as the 'Seek and Find' series. However the couple wanted people to experience these paintings.
So instead of just hanging up these masterpieces in an upmarket gallery, they produced prints of the original work and thus began a whole new chapter. With the help of their children, the prints were brought to stores and were made available through websites. Now a novelty gift shop item, these prints are in vogue and in major demand all over the country.
