I ordered from Rodney E. Layne of Media Bazaar in Glen Allen VA a Phillips New Testament in Modern English that was supposed to have been in excellent condition, still in the box with only a name on the fly cover. What I received is a worn out book with cover coming off of it! It would not even rate poor quality.
To be unpleased is an understatement it is just a deception and I filled that I have paid for something that I could not even resale at a used book store.

I like having the entire New Testament in one book. The translation is thoughtful and it is very obvious that there has been great effort to use words that express as close to the meaning of the original as possible. I have used in along with many other translations and believe this to be so.
I have one complaint, however. The type on the very course paper almost smudges and isn't pleasant to read. I would love to get a better copy with better production values. | | | | book review Apr 14, 2009 |
