 | Fantastic CD Nov 9, 2006 |
| This CD is beautiful and extremely anointed. You will find yourself praying for Isreal while at worship in the secret place. I have purchased several as gifts. Highly recommend it. | | | | Devotional Masterpiece Sep 13, 2006 |
This is the first Messianic music I have heard and it is most moving and evocative. The introduction is an instrumental medley of Jerusalem of Gold followed by Ma Tovu and then a spoken passage from scripture. Next is Blessed Are You with its alternating English and Hebrew sections. The biblical passage about giving God no rest until Jerusalem is at peace introduces Let The Weight Of Your Glory Fall, a stirring call for the Majesty to be revealed. The next one, For Your Name Is Holy, is a tender and heartfelt prayer of praise and gratitude.
A highlight of the album is the breathtaking Baruch Haba B'Shem Adonai (Blessed Is He Who Comes In The Name Of The Lord), a real tour de force. Starting in a slow and solemn way with Wilbur's voice framed by beautiful female vocals, it builds in intensity to become a powerful and rousing anthem. Then the vocals fade for an awesome instrumentally dominant section until the voices again regain prominence. The effect is quite atmospheric and transcendent.
Seamlessly this blends into Ma Tovu (O How Good), another uplifting hymn with both Hebrew and English lyrics. The live track In Your Presence is a most comforting call for grace and protection by the blood of the Lamb. This one also builds in momentum to become a triumphant anthem of praise, and concludes on a tender and soulful note.
The title track is a spoken prayer for Messiah to return to the holy city and heal the world; it is followed by Shalom Jerusalem, a tuneful praise song with impressive vocal arrangement. Wilbur introduces Kadosh (Holy) with a spoken passage from the Book of Revelation. Once again, the lyrics blend English and Hebrew over an impressive arrangement with lovely female vocals. Show Me Your Face is a yearning hymn about Moses, David and Messiah.
The way that creation is crying out for the return of the King is described with stirring biblical imagery in the song Even So, and the album concludes with a plea to Messiah to take up His throne in the individual heart and on earth, in a sweeping climax with resounding trumpets.
The CD booklet includes all the lyrics, a brief article on the history and future of Jerusalem in light of the scriptures and the full text of Psalm 122 which includes the lines "pray for the peace of Jerusalem, may they prosper who love you." For those who love the devotional music of our Judeo-Christian tradition, I also recommend The Sacred Names by Anjani Thomas, Sar Shalom by Karen Davis and Holy Harmony: Healing Code Tuning Forks and Ancient YHSWH Chant by Jonathan Goldman.
In these troubled times words are often inadequate, therefore one needs sacred music to comfort and lift up the spirit. | | | Write your own review about Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem w/Paul Wilbur
