 | I'll use this for years! Mar 11, 2007 |
We love this book! The first half is a wonderful, quick read full of ideas for incorproating books into family life. The true gold, though, is the second half: the book lists! I used to spend so much time at the library trying to find good books for my son and daycare kids. There is so much junk out there that the good ones are hard to find! Now, I just take along Honey for a Child's Heart and I know exactly what to get. There are a couple of books here and there that she recommends that I won't read to my son, but obviously different people have different standards. This book is not a replacement for pre-reading everything before your children. But it's such a good tool! | | | | VERY USEFUL Feb 15, 2007 |
| I found this book to be very useful. It explains the real purpose of books in our lives. She's off on the Harry Potter stuff, but the rest of the book is quite helpful. | | | | Every parent should own a copy! Jan 5, 2007 |
| I can't say enough good about this book. In the beginning of the book Hunt really is able to stress the importance of reading in general, but mostly the importance of reading out loud to your children. The rest fo the book is an excellent source of books to check out. I often refer to this book before heading to the local library. I have also started giving this book as a gift for new moms. | | | | A roadmap for great children's literature Oct 4, 2006 |
| I love this book. It has revolutionized our reading. This book has truly inspired me. She writes about the joys and value of reading to your children. And then she has an extensive age-appropriate reading list for children of all ages. We have been using this book to make our library lists for over a year now. My 6yo daughter was struggling with reading and didn't like it at all. When I bought this we started going to the library and checking out wonderful children's books from Ms. Hunt's lists and now she loves reading. There are so many beautiful books I would have missed without this, and so many bad ones I would have wasted my time on. | | | | Excellent Reference- MUST HAVE- Authors did the work for busy parents Oct 1, 2006 |
Overall excellent book. This is a must have book for families.
Strengths: The author gives a recommended book list. This is a comprehensive list by age. She also includes some books from different ethnic backgrounds. She gives sound tips and advice how to impart values to children thru books instead of force feeding them. Great background information about classic books and particular editions and illustrators to buy.
Weakness: She mentions books on tape, but needs to add a section on good books on tapes. She could use more books from other cultures on the list. | | | Write your own review about Honey For A Childs Heart-4th Ed
