 | The Negotiator opens at a run! Mar 7, 2007 |
You are immediately thrust into Kate O'Malley's world. She is a crisis negotiator with the Chicago Police Department. Dee Henderson introduces the O'Malley Family very well in the beginning of the book, setting up the subsequent O'Malley novels. The relationship developing between Kate O'Malley and Dave Richman (you'll remember him from Henderson's "Danger in the Shadows") is weaved nicely throughout.
There is plenty of action, suspense, drama and even a little comedy. The characters are supremely likeable. I highly recommend every book in this series! They are all real page turners.
The other O'Malley novels are: The Negotiator, The Guardian, The Truth Seeker, The Protector, The Healer, The Rescuer. Each is a wonderful read!

| The books in this series are awsome. Dee Henderson has become one of my favorites. She has a way of making the reader a part of the story and looking forward to the next! Suspense, romance, friendship, it's all there and more. | | | | The Negotiator Oct 24, 2006 |
| Dee Hendersons book The Negotiator inspires me to be patient, and love the Lord with all me heart. The main character, Kate O'malley, reminds me of myself. Kate struggles with understanding how God can exist, when her job is a hostage negotiator. She believes if God exists her job shouldn't. Meanwhile her sister has cancer and she is pushing Kate to believe. Kate puts all the emotional stress together without breaking apart. That takes courage and patience, two of which I'm still working on.I have been a christian for eleven years and now I am sixteen.I enjoy reading for the lessons you learn, from the books you read, and Dee Henderson has been a huge inspiration to me. | | | | Crime story - romance Jun 25, 2006 |
| I was pleasantly surprised with this novel; my first read by this author. The story is a "page-turner" and the relationship between Dave and Kate develops nicely. The faith message is realistic and not over-bearing. I am anxious to read the other books in the O'Malley series. | | | | Do these people ever stop eating??? Jun 6, 2006 |
First of all, when I think of someone in law enforcement or in a government involved job, especially negotiating, I think of someone really tough. With that kind of job, you have to be. The main character was an enormous whimp. In a book centered around a character in the middle of the crossfire and involved in a job as dangerous as negotiating, that is unacceptable. If she gets squeamish after only one job, well then, how'd she get where she was in the first place? Her negotiating tactics and attempts at talking with the bad guy were pathetic. Also in that horrendous scene was the moment when she met the main male character in the book. I never knew that I would gag so much in just a couple of paragraphs alone. On one side there's the author constantly praising the main characters so-called fearless attitude and on the other the guy in the story's doing the exact same thing. I found it all to be quite disgusting.
I didn't like the main character. And then there were the conversations: who talks like that? Everything about the entire story was so unrealistic, the plot, characters, storyline, dialogue...And it seemed as if every other paragraph they were getting something to eat. I have never read another book where they ate more. They ate more than I do in the time it takes me to read ten books, much less a single one.
I have noticed a pattern with Dee Henderson. Her female characters are always extremely dependant on their male heroes. They seem to turn to mush around them, so if you're looking for a strong female character, turn around and look somewhere else.
Overall: One of the most annoying books I have read in a long time. | | | Write your own review about Negotiator (OMalley V1)
