 | Another Thrilling O'Malley Mystery Mar 16, 2007 |
Rachel O'Malley is a trauma psychologist seeing to the needs of flood victims in Chicago. She is working alongside her brother, Jack, and Chicago Fire Captain, Cole Parker. Cole has been enamored with Rachel for quite awhile, but hasn't really acted on his feelings. Now that she is a new Christian, that is about to change. Yet he pursues her with maturity and tenderness because she is what he really wants. Lisa O'Malley is integral to the plot, investigating a shooting where much of the crime scene has been destroyed by the flood.
The plot thickens when several shootings occur at the local Middle and High Schools. The suspense builds as the investigations continue.
Dee Henderson develops a wonderfully suspenseful whodunit! The moments shared by Rachel and Cole are touching and well worth re-reading and smiling over. Once again, the other O'Malleys make their cameo appearances and Jennifer O'Malley's illness is still showcased. This is a "can't-put-it-down" book. There are also some very poignant moments regarding dealing with intense grief.
The other O'Malley novels are: The Negotiator, The Guardian, The Truth Seeker, The Protector, The Healer, The Rescuer. Each is a wonderful read!

| The books in this series are awsome. Dee Henderson has become one of my favorites. She has a way of making the reader a part of the story and looking forward to the next! Suspense, romance, friendship, it's all there and more. | | | | Amazing Book Jun 5, 2006 |
Whilst this book doesn't get the points for suspense that The Negotiator and The Guardian get it more than makes up for it in with the depth of the characters and the incredible way that Dee deals with the emotional tone of the stories being told.
Rachel O'Malley is a trauma psychologist and this story weaves around her falling for Cole, her sister Jennifer's illness and a school shooting.
Warning though - it is a tear jerker and I did have to close the book and spend a few minutes gathering myself back together a couple of times.
Dee's writing is vivid and really brings the character and situations to life. I would recommend though starting back at The Negotiator if you are just starting out with the series. | | | | the best and hardest to read! Jan 30, 2006 |
| I loved this book, but I had to stop reading for awhile because I knew what was coming...just had to get through it, bawling all the way! I love the depth of Henderson's characters and the riveting plots! | | | | Book 5 in the Series Nov 26, 2005 |
The Healer is book 5 in the O'Malley Series. If you are going to read this book, I recommend that you start with the first book, The Negotiator, or the prequel, Danger in the Shadows. There are seven O'Malley siblings, and one person's love story may not be limited to just one book. These are Christian/ Romance/ Suspense novels, and they are very well written. Dee Henderson gets inside her characters' heads, to reveal their thoughts and emotions as they face challenges in both work and family life.
The Healer focuses mostly on Rachel, but also has points of view from her other siblings and their significant others. Each sibling has a different profession (firefighter, EMT, etc.), which leads them to work together on disasters or police cases. Rachel works for the Red Cross, and her job involves counseling children affected by disasters. In this book, she finds out who she can turn to when she needs to be comforted. Her love story is continued from where it began in the previous book, The Protector.
I was most touched by Jennifer's story in this book. Jennifer is the only O'Malley who does not have her own book, because her story is told throughout the series. Dee Henderson wrote so tenderly in this chapter of Jennifer's life. I reread Jennifer's scenes several times. | | | Write your own review about Healer (OMalley V5)
