Item Description... Overview What's in a name? If it's God's name, more than you ever knew! Elohim, Adonai, Jehoveh Jireh . . . they're a strong tower of protection, and they reveal the very nature of God himself. You'll learn the significance of 14 names of God and what they teach you about growing in his image. Devotional and practical!
Publishers Description What's in a name? When the Bible speaks of God, the name used holds more significance than you ever knew. For example, the very first reference to God in Genesis 1:1--the name Elohim--teaches and reveals the triune nature of God. We are commanded to honor the name of God, but to do that adequately, we must understand the inherit greatness of the names which God uses to refer to himself. Ken Hemphill takes the reader through an in-depth devotional study of the names of God, teaching the significance of each name and the keys it possesses to growing us in relationship with God. God's names are not only our protection but also reveal the very nature of God himself. This is why we are to honor his name. |

 | My Most Highly Recommended Book for All Christians Mar 8, 2006 |
This is one of my favorite books I have read in a long time. Ken Hemphill explains the original Hebrew names for "God" and "Lord" in modern language that is easy to understand and dripping with the fruit of research and knowledge. I use the names in my prayer life, as the different names represent different aspects or characteristics of the Lord.
This book is a useful tool for all followers of Jesus, no matter if you're new in your journey or a seasoned solider. I'd give it six stars out of five if I could. | | | | author is chatty Feb 14, 2003 |
| The clear scripture would be helpful if the author would focus more upon that. It seems he strays, and avoids staying with scripture for revealation/meaning. This changes the book into a story more about him (author) than God. It is his experiences about God with his own personal filter absorbing most of the text. I hoped for a book fully about God, revealing the richness of His vast nature/character. I hope the author makes more room for God in his personal life than he does in this book. | | | | A Book For Everyone's Library Mar 25, 2002 |
| This is a great little book for everyone's personal library, and an excellent source for a Sunday school or sermon series. The chapter on the Holiness of God is particularly good. | | | | a guide to the character of God Dec 31, 2001 |
| This book provides a thorough biblical treatment of thirteen of the key names of God. It reads like a devotional but provides outstanding insight into the purpose behind the revelation of each name. This book has helped me to understand God's progressive revelation. It has enhanced my prayer life and I highly recommend it to every reader. | | | Write your own review about Names Of God
