Item Description... Diamond Presence: Twelve Stories of Find God at the Old Ball Park is a touching collection of twelve true, short stories in which the authors relate how they came to feel the presence of God while enjoying the "American pastime" as players, coaches, parents, children or just plain fans. From Michael Wilt's description of the power of the "stories" of baseball, to Sara Kaden's recounting of how a summer playing softball brought her closer to her father, these stories open your eyes to the presence of God in all sorts of places. All the stories are published here for the first time except for Andrew Dubus' essay, first included in Broken Vessels. |

Reviews - What do our customers think?
 | Thou Shalt Love Thy Baseball as Thyself Oct 24, 2004 |
| Pierce and 12 other authors share stories of baseball's "ability to capture what life is really all about." Many of the stories feature at least a few paragraphs of play-by-play, which would probably appeal more to fans than to readers like me who are indifferent to the sport. Not to say I didn't find the stories interesting and sometimes inspiring. I just identified more with the one about a bunch of high school girls who joined a team in the summer and were annoyed to learn that the coach took the whole thing seriously. "I was just trying to get a tan on my face," said one. But the coach's daughter stuck it out, made a great play in a crucial game, and recalls that she glimpsed God in her dad's smile that day. This would make a nice gift for anyone with an interest in baseball. | | | Write your own review about Diamond Presence: Twelve Stories of Finding God at the Old Ball Park
