	Inspiring but not Instructional Jan 22, 2007
I read this book with much anticipation considering my wife in I are in debt over our heads and I have listened to the Crown Ministries radio show multiple times and Larry Burkett was instrumental in that program prior to his death. I unfortunately was expecting too much. Throughout the book Larry describes 4 couples that he helped counsel and he shows how they got into debt, the turning point when they realized their mistakes, them overcoming the debt, and finally the rewards of being out of debt. The stories them selves were inspiring and helped to show how naive and wrong some of my own thoughts had been that led us into debt. The biggest disappointment for me though was that there was no scriptures in the text to back up any of his ideas, and there were no true descriptions of how to approach getting out of debt aside from setting a budget and making sure that income is greater than expenses. (in other words common sense) While this is by no means what I was anticipating with the book and I was disappointed, I still rank it at 3 stars because it is definitely inspiring and motivational in that the very next day after reading it my wife and I decided to re-prioritize the way we were doing things and put a focus on our debt and we have vowed to get out of debt in 3 years.
