Outline The moving biblical tale of Esther--a humble Jewish girl who saved her people from annihilation and won the heart of the handsome Persian king Xerxes--is the subject of One Night with the King, a lush ode to one of the Old Testament's most inspiring women. Esther, played with spark and confidence by Tiffany Dupont, could perhaps be said to be the first career woman to "have it all"--while also serving her people, and God. The film, shot on location in India, has the feel of the great epics of the '60s--a sensation underscored by the appearance, in small but pivotal roles, of both Omar Sharif and Peter O'Toole. (Even Raiders of the Lost Ark's John Rhys-Davies--"Bad dates!"--echoes earlier desert adventures.) But the film belongs to the willful Esther, who navigates among war, bloodlust, persecution, and terror with the strength of knowing she's serving the Lord, and her people. If the film has a few anachronisms--including the young Esther's suitor, who has blonde streaks and a surfer-dude delivery ("The market was rilly busy today")--its heart and its focus never waver. Fans of biblical tales and well-made drama for the entire family shouldn't miss it. --A.T. Hurley

| This was a good movie - glad to have it added to my movie library. I appreciate the Book of Ruth in the Bible all the more! I can't see how it could have been done any better than -- magnificent and inspiring! | | | | Pretty Good!! Mar 31, 2007 |

| In this lovely movie we watch the important role that Esther had in saving her Jewish countrymen from certain death. Perhaps there were some flaws in the film, but the story was beautiful and the trust shown in God was uplifting and should encourage all of us in difficult times. The scenery was beautiful and the acting was very good and hats off to the outstanding music. This is a great family movie and one that I recommend you to sit down with your children and watch and remember the goodness of the Lord. | | | | One Night with the King Mar 30, 2007 |
| This is a very touching, beautiful movie about Queen Esther and how she saved her people the Jews from distruction by risking her own life as told in the book of Esther. The story comes alive in a gripping, emotional, true-to-life retelling of this event in history. A little leway is given from the Bible's telling, but not much. In the parts that matter, the story sticks to the true events and is beautifully told. Every Christian and Jew should have this in their home library if for no other reason than to encourage Hollywood to continue to make such wonderful movies!! | | | | Great Family Movie Mar 30, 2007 |
| This movie had to be one of the best and most dramatic movies of 2006. The plot and drama was outstanding the on location scences were breath taking I felt as if was actually taken back into Bible time and that Esther. was a close friend. As a student of the Bible I found the story line to be honest and true to it's content. An excellent movie for famlies. Matt and Laurie Crouch done an excellent job in producing such a beautiful peice of work. | | | | Don't waste your time Mar 28, 2007 |
| I would only watch this if it was free to watch. It's not terrible, just don't go in expecting a whole lot of Biblical accuracy. I just thought some of the most important parts, such as when she was going to the king for the first time and at the very end as well, was a little anti-climatic. It could have been done a lot better. Just don't go in with high expectations. | | | Write your own review about One Night With The King
