| Drs. Cloud and Townsend did an outstanding job with this book. I have added this book as a must read for all who comes to me for counseling. Our pastor also added it to his list for those who are planning on getting married. Every one should read boundaries, whether it is for marriage or single people. It has a message for all. If we understood boundaries then some of the arguments would not be. It would save some unnecessary heartaches. The authors does not leave a stone unturn. They addresses practically all subjects, for example, oneness, you were not always one, now you are trying to become one. Christ is still completing the work in us that He has begun until we go to be in His presence. From my own personal experience in using this book in a marriage counseling setting, I would recommend all Christians to look somewhere else. Read "Sacred Marriage" by Gary Thomas first. Sacred Marriage is based on the Bible. "Boundaries in Marriage" could very easily wreck your marriage. Solid Christian Counselors that believe marriage is sacred will also warn you away from this book. Too often this book is used to justify placing boundaries on your spouse in such a way that effective communication is completely eliminated, which can then become a way for you or your spouse to escape from healthy conflict resolution. Again, there are plenty of good books for marriage. This is not one of them. To quote a phrase in "Sacred Marriage", "God made marriage to make us holy, not to make us happy." "Boundaries in Marriage" will only help you become a victim of your own insecurities, and will not allow you to develop into the marriage partner and Godly spouse you need to be. Again pass on this book. Read your Bible, and consider real Bible based books instead.

| I got this book because I have had trouble with a passive aggressive, manipulative spouse. I wanted to know specifically how to deal with that problem. There wasn't much in the book that covered that. The book over all is good and helpful - using couples and their situations to teach the concepts. It was just not specific enough for my situation. The lessons in this book can easily be applied to all areas of your life, not just marriage. I have loaned my copy of this book to may people, and many have told me it changed their lives.
