Album Description BEAUTY WILL RISE is a collection of 12 new and profound songs from Steven Curtis Chapman. Created in the past 18 months in the walk through the darkness of the loss of his daughter Maria, and while God continues to meet him there on the journey. Part lament, part praise, part grief, part hope, part wrestling, part pondering; these tracks resonate as Steven's personal Psalms. It is a desperately hopeful, raw, personal, and honest recording that is likely the most important of his already incredible 20 plus year ministry.

I love this CD. As I listened, tears filled my eyes. God is working through this music.
SCC's best album to date May 24, 2010
The songs on this album are written with the raw emotion and vulnerability of a father who just lost his youngest daughter to a tragic accident. Steven Curtis's lyrics are packed with the toughest questions humans can have, yet are backed up by faith in Scripture and Truth of God's promises. Living in a fallen world, every single person can relate to one of these songs in someway. Personally, I need these songs to play regularly so I can rehearse the Truth that is pouring through the lyrics. God has used this man and this tragedy to bring hope to each listener. Steven Curtis lives a life of faith and no other album has been such a testimony to this as Beauty Will Rise. I have and will continue to make this the album I purchase for anyone going through a crisis in their lives...and maybe just for anyone else too.
Agnostic Perspective Mar 25, 2010
I bought this album for my wife's birthday. As someone who has struggled with my faith for many years I have been quite cynical towards Christian music. I have often said that it's a watered down version of secular music with a one-dimensional theme. "If you've heard one contemporary Christian song, you've heard them all".
However, I was interested to listen to this album after hearing about the circumstances surrounding it. Being a father of two myself, I can't imagine going through what SCC has endured. I wanted to see how a person could craft songs around such a personal experience.
What I heard was nothing short of a true artistic masterpiece. Every time you listen to this album you find a new message to receive. On one hand it can be overwhelmingly depressing and it is very difficult to listen to without tearing up. And yet on the other hand it is one of the most truly inspirational collections of music I've ever heard. And like all great art not only does it contain several layers of depth, it only gets better with time.
As I said before, I struggle with the Christian faith I was raised under. I have questioned God's existence and even dismissed all religion as an easy way to explain complicated truths. But one thing I realized after hearing this album is that it's easy for a person to turn away from their faith when the unspeakable happens. And no one would blame a person for doing so. But it takes great strength to publicly affirm your faith in the face of such adversity. I have seen no better vehicle of ministry in recent years than this album. It has compelled a guy like me to write a review of a "Christian" album. Unfortunately I think the Christian label will prevent it from receiving the wide exposure that it should get. I think everybody has something to gain by giving "Beauty Will Rise" a listen.

Like the Barry Manilow cd that I ordered at the same time, I did not have to wait very long to revice this cd. Again I knew what I purchased for I have already listen to the cd before. As for the cd itself, this has to be the best Steven Curtis Chapman cd he has ever recorded, besides his first christmas cd. This set of songs delt with the death of his daughter Maria, and the aftermath that he delt with. As a parent I could smythatize with Chapman, but I dont know if I could find the hope within the situation as he obviously has. It is evident that Chapman has a true sence of what God's love is truly about. I strongly recommend this cd to people who have lost love ones and our dealing with grief. These songs come from the heart and could help anyone to heal Christians or non Christian
