Reviews - What do our customers think?
 | OK - but better Bibletime choices Sep 3, 2009 |
Overall the Bibletime series of books, predominantly written by Carine Mackenzie, are very well written with simple yet very clear explanations. The author does not shy away from tackling difficult passages and retelling events from the Bible in story form for children. I give this particular title just 3 stars primarily because not only do I think that the issue of multiple wives on the part of some rebellious men in the Bible could have been explained more clearly, but also because the fact that God designed marriage to be between one man and one woman is not mentioned at all.
The author writes "In those days some good men had more than one wife." My objection to this is that these men were not "good" but rather they were rebellious; they denied God's law by taking more than one wife. They may have done some good things, but they were not good. Only God is good. If you are interested in this style of writing or other in this series, I recommend others such as:
* Jonah: The Runaway Preacher (Bibletime)
* Nehemiah Builder For God (Bibletime)
* and many others of this series. | | | Write your own review about Hannah: The Mother Who Prayed (Bibletime)
