Item Description... Overview Concise articles cover virtually every aspect of finances. (More than 100,000 in print)
Community Description Nearly 80 percent of all divorced couples between the ages of 20 and 30 list financial difficulties as the primary cause of their separation. That figure tops the ones for adultery and abuse combined. Suicide rates are climbing together with the national debt. And even some of the most dedicated Christians are facing the perils of bankruptcy and overextended credit. We are seeing just some of the effects of living in materialistic society.
Larry Burkett, renowned for his Christian Financial Concepts ministry, dedicated himself to helping people understand what the Scripture says about finances. Through a series of outstanding articles taken from CFC newsletters, Using Your money Wisely clearly demonstrates God's principles for prudent money management.
Burkett doesn't skirt the tough issues. He gives answers to even these questions:
* Is it wrong to be rich?
* What is the scriptural view of credit and borrowing?
* Is gambling wrong?
* How do you go about teaching financial responsibility to your children?
* Should wives work?
* How do you maintain a good, strong business ethic?
Yes, God does care about how we manage the budget. The writings of Larry Burkett will challenge you to rethink your current financial strategy as well as offer assistance to anyone who has ever found himself or a loved one in a money crunch.

Reviews - What do our customers think?

| This book is for those who have a relationship with CHRIST! It's principles which are based on the Word of God are applicable and viable for any who believes that "Jesus is Lord" of their life. If you want to know what God says about stewardship, money & finances, then read this book and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you and guide you. You be the judge. Begin to apply these principles to your life with discipline. You will see a change in your life and outlook. | | | | Use Your Money Wisely And Don't Buy This Book Apr 18, 2002 |
| The back jacket of this book notes that it is "a series of outstanding articles taken from [the author's] newsletters." Leaving aside the issue of whether the individual articles are outstanding (the quality is uneven), the book suffers from a lack of continuity. Worse, it lacks a unifying vision. Saying that one is presenting a Christian Biblical point of view about finances isn't enough. The ideas are all over the place and do not develop from chapter to chapter. The book as a consequence gives the impression of being unfinished. This is unfortunate. Although there are other, equally Christian, views of finances that do not rest on the author's premises (women are to be submissive financially, e.g.), he had some things to say that made me think, though I ultimately disagreed with many of his conclusions (this is _not_ the reason for the low rating). For a much deeper look at the wise use of money, I recommend the classic _Your Money or Your Life_ by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robins. It does not have a specifically Christian orientation but it certainly cannot be said to be anti-Christian. | | | | Using Your Money Wisely Nov 26, 2000 |
| A not-so-well-written book with lots of sound, practical advice about managing and using money wisely. Also gives advice about prioritizing one's life to secure contentment. Aimed at Christians interested in following biblical standards for living, including money management. | | | Write your own review about Using Your Money Wisely
