This book has been a real eye-opener to me. In his basic application of Biblical wisdom to daily work life, Larry Burkett lays out a pattern that will help anyone from a janitor to a CEO, from a pastor or any other leader, to honor God on their workplace. It is interesting that although the book was published in 1998, the principles it spells out are exactly what caused the recent economic depression. Avoiding the common trap of a "health/wealth" social gospel, "Business by the Book" should help the lazy be motivated, and those in bondage to their work to find release in Christ. An excellent read.

Business by the Book is a truly excellent resource that provides guidance for Christian businesspeople to run their business by biblical principles. There are three parts in the book. Part I, Business by the Book, provides a high level view of the importance and value of living your life and running your business in a way that is aligned with God's principles. It even talks about the role your spouse plays in your business. Part II, Critical Policy Decisions, has nine chapters on some very tough issues: leadership, hiring and firing, management selection, pay, borrowing and lending. Part III, Your Business and Your Life, talks about the integration of the two, plus a number of key issues such as incorporation, tithing, and retirement. The book ends with a chapter on Integrating God's Plan. There is even a helpful 48-pg Study Guide in the end, which looks quite useful for personal or small group study. I appreciated the clear writing style throughout the book, the blend of stories, principles, explanation, and encouragement. The format also allows you to dive right into specific subjects where you might be facing a current challenge. This book seems like a must read and reference for anyone in business.

Awesome book if you are serious about running your business according to God's principles in the Bible. I have read it for the second time, and I know I will refer to it as my business grows! God Bless Larry Burkett!

It took a little longer to receive than I initially hoped for, but not too long, and it was well worth the wait for a book grounded in God's principles for business.

This book is an excellent recource for anyone who owns a business or who is in a management or supervisory position - Excellent advice, full of encouragement and I love that it is based on biblical principals. I highly recommend it to everyone!
